Daniela did an amazing job here at Alvaret. She was not afraid to get her hands dirty and we could totalt rely on her. when she wasent working for us, she was always working with something else on her computer :) Daniela helped us updating our website and she took lovely pictures gor it too. We would love to recommend Daniela to other hosts. You will not only get a great volunteer but also a good friend.

My time in the hostel was amazing! At the end, I wish I could have stayed more than a month, but I had other plans already. Sofie is an incredible person and her dog, Lily, is adorable. The hotel is lovely, super clean and friendly, I really enjoyed the tasks and helping to make the place even more awesome. The work varies, but the amount is equally distributed and everyone helps. Also, not only most of the hotel staff is great, but the people from the near restaurant and the nearby hostel were cool as well. I would definitely stay again!

Daniella arrived at our Hostel on the date and time she said she would, from the moment she arrived we could tell that we would all get on very well as she was precise and meticulous in everything she done, The training procedure of checking in guests at Reception was quite easy as Daniella is a very intelligent girl, Daniella was also a great help with our computer IT needs and updating of Brochures,Timetables and Websites, The two months she stayed at our Hostel went in so quickly, It was a pleasure having you join our team and you are welcome back anytime Philip and Colette

Volunteering in the hostel has been my best Worldpackers experience so far! Philip and Colette are incredibly kind, they always asign a fair schedule and respect it and they treat you like part of the family. Also, they are always looking for new ways to improve the hostel and give guests a great experience. I worked with them managing the hostel website, taking pictures of the place, checking guests in and other kinds of reception work. Portrush is also a charming area, perfect if you like to hike and being outdoors. I had an amazing time and I would highly recommend this place!

My time in the hostel was amazing! Bart and Katrjin are incredibly kind and fair. They have a lot of respect for your schedule, so you never have to overwork. Also, they never ask you to do any chore they wouldn't do themselves. Also, they are extremely punctual and they are always willing to help. The place is very nice and warm, clean and comfortable and the city is great. I'd definitely love to go back some day =)

About me as an author

Digital Nomad and Writer. I spent two years travelling around Europe and volunteering in hostels. So far I've been to 19 countries in two continents. Nothing beats a good book and a hot cup of tea.

Background

Education

I have a degree in Communications and Mass Media, with specialization in graphic design and arts as well as content creation and storytelling. I have a broad knowledge of design and online marketing tools as well as media production. I got my degree in the Technological Institute of Monterrey in Mexico, but I also undertook a semester abroad in Regent's University London, focusing in advertising and writing for the media.

Work experience

I have a broad experience as a Social Media Manager. I've spent the last two years working in the Communications Department of the ITESM University in Guadalajara as the community manager and copywriter of the campus library. I am mainly in charge of promoting reading campaigns and stimulating students to approach to books and culture. I have to organize cultural events each semester as well, to invite students to visit the library. I have also worked as a social media manager in a literature magazine called "Luvina", advertising the magazine and promoting literary events in the city. For both jobs I designed my own media content and informational posters, as well as produced the audiovisual material that was required. Previous to that, I have participated as art director in several short films and online shows.

Travel experience

I have been fortunate enough to travel since young age. My mother was a travel agent and my dad worked in airport security so I moved from town to town when I was a kid. Later on, I had the chance to study a semester abroad in London, England and I took advantage of my stay to travel around the UK and Europe. Besides London, I also had the opportunity to visit Oxford, Cambridge, Brighton and Edinburgh. And inside the continent, I traveled to France, Belgium, Germany as well as some villages in Spain.
