5 tips to help you choose the perfect volunteer work for you

The World needs volunteers and you can find the perfect volunteer work for you. And by ‘World needs’ I don’t mean money: I am writing about awful and undignified conditions that some of the living beings in this Earth exist in.

volunteer-work

If you acknowledge that and feel in your heart the desire to be a volunteer, especially if you care enough to truly want to make that desire come true, you are ready to find a place to start being part of the World’s healing.

That said, I’ll give you some hints on how to choose a social project for you to volunteer

I've ranked them in order of priority, according to my experience.

1 – Know the World

Search the internet, read newspaper and other information sources,  whereabouts the ‘World needs” are.

SPOILER: lots and lots of places, even in your home town.

2 – Know yourself

Discover which ‘need’ moves you most or could relate most with your hobbies and passions.

3 – Know your status quo

Check how much time and money you could invest on the project.

4 – Know the opportunities and how to get to them

The easiest way is to look for a NGO, even thou you could do everything by yourself if you want.

You can search Worldpackers in order to find a suitable place for you around the World;

Keep in mind that if you choose a NGO overseas, you have to search about how to get to that country, visa, mandatory travel insurance, etc.

5 – Enough with bla bla bla

Go fulfill your destiny of helping heal the World!

One of the advantages to apply for a NGO on Worldpackers is that you will also get accommodation for free while you perform on the project. So, it will be much cheaper for you as well.

I have my Cambodian NGO experience published, have a look if you want: Helping in an NGO in Cambodia: the greats experience of my life.

In conclusion, I’d like to address that to proceed with such noble task of helping others, it will take you a decent amount of courage and drive, specially on places with very basic conditions.

But I will tell you and guarantee here and now that it will be one of the best experiences you’ll have in your life.
