Anak Alam
We offer authentic traditional Sumbawa experience and slow-living practices. You can learn a bit about permaculture and homesteading while volunteering with us. And there’s river, waterfalls, micro islands, mountains within 15-30 mins drive from our learning house you can visit while here.
I’m Dewi, I founded Anak Alam Learning House Sumbawa together with my very first students in 2019. My first students have now become part of our organization and continue our legacy to run the place. We hope to welcome you in our Anak Alam family and create impacts together

I had a great stay at the eco village with a very warm welcome. The place is simple but comfortable, and the team Zira, Sukma, and Anto are amazing and always helpful. We visited a river and a beautiful waterfall, and working with the kids was truly enjoyable they are smart, kind, and eager to learn. I highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for an authentic connection with locals, a real feel of Indonesia, and a chance to learn the language.

A great chance to immerse in local culture. I met some local farmers and they've been extremely friendly, the kids are smart and love to play. I had a comfy bed to sleep in and a nice room. We also celebrated new years eve together, camping in Lombok and cooking with the fire: that has been super cool!

We really enjoyed our staying at the eco village LH! The project is just amazing and the experience with kids absolutely positive. There's a scheduled calendar so you'll never been left to yourself, Anggun will be with you during every activity Sumbawa's a beautiful island and people will be very curious to know you (prepare yourself to reply to several questions or to people who ask you to have a photo together for documentation 😅) Anggun's a very available person, she was super helpful to bring us around or to lend us her scooter, but if you can't use it I recommend to rent a car to visit aroud

The place needs a lot of maintenance and it's really big for only one person to be in charged. I wanted to volunteer not only because of teaching english but also because of teaching sports and music. There were no instruments at the place and no such thing as teaching music. The plan is not that clear and I offered to help even with fixing things but apparently it was not what they wanted. Movility is really restricted so make sure you ask for a bike or bring your own in advance. Zira was amazing with us. It's just too much work for herself alone.
