Administración y Recepción

Unfortunately Tamara's stay with us didn't go well. I did think this was maybe her first volunteer position but she assured me that she had worked previously at other places. I didn't feel she was suited to hospitality work at all. She spent a lot of time sat on her laptop in reception, The owner actually thought she was guest. Some times these things don't work out and I'm sorry to say we couldn't recommend her.

I really do not count this as a reliable review. No, this was not my first volunteer position (read review from previous host). The person who wrote the above only worked with me 3 days, cause she got sick and stayed home for 4 days, during her sick days, myself and her assistant , Tacco, got along very well, and the owner (Jon's wife) actually said I was doing great, so did many other guests who I interacted with. She is obviously trying to make me feel bad. Charlene, I really hope you treat people who volunteer for you a lot better. You were the one who told me I should pretend to be a guest, I suppose I did it pretty well, right? Good thing I know where I stand in all this, I tried my best, but I just do not need to take any bad things from anyone really.

I don't recommend volunteering at the reception. I had to pretend to be a guest and sit all day on a sofa in a hot room with mosquitoes, stay behind my computer and still keep an eye on guests needs. The real issue was the receptionist and manager being rude to me, in her own words, she had to tell me something twice (is that a reason to be rude to anyone?). The rules changed from the day I arrived and I was not officially told which caused discomfort. Accommodation had no AC (good luck trying to sleep). When I said I wanted to quit, I was given one hour to pack and leave. Bad experience.

Thanks for the feedback regarding the dorm. All volunteers are now in an air con dorm. No one was rude to you I asked you to help out and to do the work you volunteered for. You weren't given an hour to leave, you were here until late afternoon and walked out of your 6 hour shift before midday. No rules were changed while you were here, you did seem to be in your own world half the time or on your laptop which isn't suited to this role. All the volunteers that were here when you arrived are still here and some have stayed on. Sorry you didn't enjoy your stay here :( but either way I wish you all the best.

It is so hard to put feelings into words, I can only express all my gratitude to Ms Dang, her foundation and family. I was teaching in the organization to the kindergarten children, for about 1 hour a day and then after a week, Ms Dang invited me to go teach at her village, because schools in the organization were going on vacation. I was able to live the Thai rural life, and her family treated me as one of them. They even took me to beautiful places and a waterfall, unforgettable moments we had. My students were the sweetest girls who really appreciated my work with them. Simply amazing! Khob Khun Kha!!!

Educación

I studied International Business in 2006-2008. Now I am studying to become a translator for dubbing, meaning I will become specialized in translating movies and series from English and Spanish into portuguese and my translations will be dubbed by professional actors. I'm also planning to become an actress too, after my sabbatical year in Southeast Asia.

Experiencia laboral

Most of my professional experience was in the export area, I've found out that, after nearly 10 years working in this area, this is not my thing. But, I have learned so much from it. Administration skills, customer service, initiative, work as a team, social skills for corporate enviroment, and much more.
During my time in Dublin, I worked as a childminder (nanny) and also did some volunteer work with children from the communities.
Now, I will start working as a translator, which is something I believe I was born to do. I love languages and communication. And I expect to translate a lot of interesting content to brazilian people who doesn't know any English or Spanish.
During my stay abroad, I want to be able to teach some English / Portuguese and help out in hostels, as a receptionist or any other activities that hosts might need help with. I'm very open minded and fast learner.

Experiencia de viaje

I am passionate about travelling. I've been to the Caribbean the first time I was abroad! Buenos Aires after that. A lot of beautiful places in Brazil, during weekends and work vacation. USA: NYC, Hawaii, Austin, Miami. I've lived in Dublin, Ireland for 2 years. Travelled a lot around Europe, Holland, Chech Republic, Germany (twice, Berlin and Stuttgart), Austria, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden and Greece. Now, it's time to see a bit of the oriental world, I just cannot wait to get it started.
