Agriturismo

THIS WEEK WE ARE ACCEPTING TWO DAY UP TO 21 DAY STAYS FOR CHESTNUT PICKING ...COME AND ENJOY
Our farm is in Motrone, a hilltop village placed 8km away from civilization (thank goodness) and the area where we are https://dlnarratives.eu/Storymaps/Apuan_Alps/

We pride ourselves in growing and eating our own food, vegetables fruit and grains in season, eggs, lamb , chicken, pheasant , goose, guinea fowl and quail are all bred here. Our food that we eat is home grown and sustainable, so please accept that

In September and October we are preparing for the Chestnut harvest and processing into flour using ancient methods see our video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9iOM4X9MInY

We are hardworking enthusiastic team that love nature and people and love getting back to the basics and to agriculture that was practiced many many years ago, hours depend on the seasons and what we are doing, planting and harvesting are very busy but enjoyable, winter very quiet For those who get involved enthusiastically in our farm and lifestyle we treat volunteers like members of our family and encourage them to stay long term after a short (both ways) trial period For time off there is a bus service that leaves our village at 7 am on Tuesday and Friday . I arrange a pick up for volunteers off the 17:20 train at our local train station which is 35 minutes drive away.

Good experience overall! At first there were difficulties because I had woken up late by 2 hours the first day and this had one of the hosts angry at me. That day and the day after I didn't feel comfortable there but once I had shown my work ethic I was treated better.

The hours being a lot more than what was suggested but that comes naturally with working on a farm and the winter season. You are also expected to prepare the table for each meal and wash all the dishes.

Food was absolutely amazing and all except breakfast were cooked by the host! Also the work itself was very rewarding!

It was an awesome experience. Jenny is really lovely and very patient to teach, even when you do things wrong at the farm hahah. Jeff loves to talk and have a good and honest conversation, if you work well, are not lazy, respectful and spend some time talking with him about all topics he will respect you even more. They are a different generation so its important to take this in consideration, regardless the hard work, it teaches you a lot to give importance to "small" things. The work depending of the season can be pretty hard and more hours than what they said in the app. Lovely experience!

I recommend the place. We have an amazing host, Jenny. Geoff isn't that easy to get along with, but he's also nice. If I could give you tips before coming, they would be: come prepared to work hard and for more than 5 hours... sometimes much more. The food is good. The place is AMAZING, the experiences were worthwhile and I learned A LOT about many things, including chestnuts and their production. Come prepared to work, maybe have some troubles and live it all.

The short but enriching experience involved learning about agritourism, farm work, and restoring a 600-year-old house. All planned activities were completed. Jenny and Jeff, both youthful spirits, provided excellent daily meals. The private room was comfortable, and the shower water quality was super. Unfortunately, I left early due to past negative experiences with digital nomads and initial WhatsApp communication issues. Despite this, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience! I really recommend this if you are looking to be part of a family and work hard!

It was quite a learning experience for me who never had any experience on farms, it’s a great way to learn with small sized experience. The place is amazingly beautiful and you get different tasks around, it’s quite dynamic.

The hosts are very hard working and they expect you to be the same, dedicated to the tasks and help them achieve their dream, quite a responsibility and might be and overwhelming workload for some people.

I would say that’s the only point you need to get well aligned with the hosts before coming :)
