Anahata Farm

Incredibly peaceful and private tropical fruit tree farm near a black sand beach and geothermal hot ponds. People come here to enjoy nature and learn about growing food in tropical Hawaii and to learn about off-grid living. We live on the part of the island that people call "alternative" - there are several very interesting communities here that host things like a estatic dance, yoga, breathwork, etc. Please note: We don't take travelers that have never volunteered with Worldpackers (ie first timers).

There are usually anywhere from 1 to 3 people here at any one time it's very laid back and tropical, peaceful, quiet, 15 mins to Pahoa town and close to the beach people describe this property as very Zen like! We are totally off-grid, so our infrastructure is basic - we have electricity always, running water, and sometimes hot showers, and a composting toilet, so this is not the Hilton :)

Kai was a great host. The accommodations were as described and he was flexible with the work schedule. There are definitely many parts of the island I wouldn’t have discovered had I been anywhere else.
