Bhaktivedanta Manor

In the Hertfordshire countryside just on the outskirts of London, Bhaktivedanta Manor, complete with its farmlands, beautiful gardens and temple is a real sanctuary for the soul. Open all year round to visitors and students of ancient wisdom, the temple offers a great experience with tours of the shrine, gardens and compassionate farm. Here are the rooms of the famous Hare Krishna guru Srila Prabhupada, to whom George Harrison gifted this iconic mock Tudor mansion. We have inspirational talks, yoga classes, mantra meditation, vegetarian cooking classes and various retreats. We are situated right next to London so the location is ideal for someone who would like to visit the city in their free time. A train from Radlett to Kings cross station in London takes about 20 minutes and will cost just under £10 Radlett train station is a 25 minute walk from the farm or alternatively, a 5 minute bus ride.

Whilst here, we will try to offer volunteers an assortment of activities to take part in. Dependent on the number of volunteers here at a given time, activities can range from serving in the farm to serving in our bakery to milking the cows by hand to cooking in the kitchen to helping with decorations and preperations for one of our many festivals throughout the year. Our wish is to give you a most memorable and enjoyable experience that you can fondly look back on with affection. Our diet is lacto vegetarian and as such milk is in a lot of our foods. Vegans do stay with us and can navigate the menu to some degree. Most of the milk and milk products are from our own cows. Previous volunteers have always commented that they were able to develop and improve their English speaking skills. We want to offer you a unique and alternative experience to witness the practices of ancient Indian vedic civilization and self sufficiency. While you are here, we wish that you feel no pressure at all to get involved but that you know that if you want to, you can get as involved as you would like to in the spiritual practices and ceremonies of the temple. Accomodation - We have 1 caravan with 8 beds, a shower and a toilet which has recently been renovated for the men to come and stay in. We have a nicely decorated caravan for ladies which has 9 beds, a shower and a toilet. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in the main house which is about a 10 minute walk from the caravans. We do not have any shared rooms, at this time for couples but couples are welcome if they don't mind being accommodated separately. For your ease and comfort, we ask that you bring your own sleeping bag. We do have mattress protectors but we encourage you to bring a bed sheet and pillow with you to make it feel that bit more homely. If all our designated beds are full you are welcome come and stay in a tent that we will happily provide for you if you don't have your own. There are toilet and shower facilities in a cabin outside for those that are staying in tents. These are quite old now and there is a proposal on the table to update these facilities very soon. There is no cooking facilities in the caravans but we do have a communal area where there is facilities for you to cook and socialize.

I felt very happy and welcomed in this place, I was able to meet people that I will take for life, I was able to improve my English and have contact with people from all over the world, the work was not very difficult, the food I learned to like and it was always plentiful, I was very happy while I could be in this place, I highly recommend it.

It was a nice experience, the work wasn’t difficult, everyone was very nice, the caravan where we slept wasn’t not too bad, the best of all was being able to share with many volunteers from different countries which made my stay fun. The only thing that isn’t good is the food as it’s Indian Vegetarian food which means a lot of spicy and not much variety to choose from.

I can’t say much about it because for health reasons I didn’t stay, but the people there are nice and polite and the place is huge and beautiful.

My almost two months (supposed to be just 1 at first) were absolutely incredible at New Gokul Farm.
I met so many incredible people, the work was chill (it's physical, it's farming, but you can do at your own pace!) and had the opportunity to participate in some activities/festival at the temple. The food at the temple was really good - spicy sometimes, but I love it!
KC, Achyuta, JK and all the managers are fantastic people and very understanding. I had a really good relation with them and learned so much. Grateful and hoping to visit it again in the future.
I definitely recommend ❣️ Big hug!
