Bhaktivedanta Manor

In the Hertfordshire countryside just on the outskirts of London, Bhaktivedanta Manor, complete with its farmlands, beautiful gardens and temple is a real sanctuary for the soul. Open all year round to visitors and students of ancient wisdom, the temple offers a great experience with tours of the shrine, gardens and compassionate farm. Here are the rooms of the famous Hare Krishna guru Srila Prabhupada, to whom George Harrison gifted this iconic mock Tudor mansion.

We are situated right next to London so the location is ideal for someone who would like to visit the city in their free time. A train from Radlett to Kings cross station in London takes about 20 minutes and will cost just under £10
Radlett train station is a 25 minute walk from the farm or alternatively, a 5 minute bus ride.

Whilst here, we will try to offer volunteers an assortment of activities to take part in. Dependent on the number of volunteers here at a given time, activities can range from serving in the farm to serving in our bakery to milking the cows by hand to cooking in the kitchen to helping with decorations and preperations for one of our many festivals throughout the year. Our wish is to give you a most memorable and enjoyable experience that you can fondly look back on with affection. Our diet is lacto vegetarian and as such milk is in a lot of our foods. Vegans do stay with us and can navigate the menu to some degree. Most of the milk and milk products are from our own cows. Previous volunteers have always commented that they were able to develop and improve their English speaking skills. We want to offer you a unique and alternative experience to witness the practices of ancient Indian vedic civilization and self sufficiency. While you are here, we wish that you feel no pressure at all to get involved but that you know that if you want to, you can get as involved as you would like to in the spiritual practices and ceremonies of the temple. Accomodation :- We have caravans for upto four to stay in each, a shower and a toilet which has recently been renovated for the men to come and stay in. We can provide you with 5 bedding items (Duvet, Pillow, Duvet Cover, Pillow Cover and Mattress Cover) and a key to your own wardrobe locker. You can bring your own sleeping bags if you prefer so. There are toilet and shower facilities in cabins outside of caravans. Food: Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in the main house which is about a 10 minute walk from the caravans. There is no cooking facilities in the caravans but we do have a communal area where there is facilities for you socialize.

Foi meu primeiro voluntariado, gostei muito da experiência! Recomendo!
A fazenda é bem bonita e o templo lindo, vale visitar.
Espero voltar numa próxima.

Um abraço apertado

Really a sociocultural action. Leadership is attentive and flexible, work is always in a group, you learn and interact with your fellow volunteers. The food is different (good) and it’s very abundant! I appreciate the attention and opportunity.

I had a fantastic time on the farm. The facilities were comfortable and clean. I met the most amazing people. The work is hard but thats farm work. The temple is beautiful and everyone really friendly.

The responsibles are very commanding, I felt more like a slave, not a volunteer. They press you to work fast and blame you for starting late even if you were ready on time. They make you work in the field under the burning sun at 30° heat and your effort is not really appreciated. There's no organisation; people just disappear for hours and don't work. On arrival you don't get any information, e.g. about the meditations you can attend in the temple. On the profile it says you can take yoga classes which is not true. I would not recommend staying longer than two weeks.
