Camping Casa dei Prati

The campsite is located on Elba Island, a small island nearby Tuscany, in a quiet and peaceful area and is run by the owners themselves, so is perfect for those who are searching for a place where they can feel at home.

The Camping overlooks the beautiful Gulf of Lacona and its famous sandy beach.
Being in the centre of the island, Lacona is not far from the main towns like Capoliveri, Porto Azzurro and Marina di Campo as well as the most popular beaches.
The island of Elba offers a marvellous variety of scenery, from small hidden coves to long sandy beaches; each corner of Elba holds its own special surprise for visitors. The island is washed by crystal clear water in every shade of blue, a paradise for divers and snorkellers. It's wooded hills make it ideal for hikers, it's panoramic roads so popular with mountain bikers.

The campsite is run by me, my brother and my mum. Me and my brother were born on the island. My mum is from Thailand. We speak Italian, English, Thai, Spanish and German a little bit. Next to the campsite we have a small farm, we produce extra virgin olive oil, some fruits and vegetables, grapes. We're on a heartwarming journey to make our campsite even more enchanting, and we're searching for kindred spirits who share our passion for nature, creativity, and community. This season, we're eager to infuse our space with the gentle energy of yoga and the vibrant strokes of art, creating a sanctuary where every soul feels at home. But our canvas is broad, and there's plenty of room for more colors! Aside from yoga and art, we're looking for helping hands in maintaining our lush gardens and cozy accommodations, painting and decorating our facilities to mirror the beauty of our surroundings, tackling a variety of repairs or construction projects, and keeping our garden and communal areas pristine. We also have bicycles available and if you have the skills, we would appreciate help with their periodic maintenance and check-ups. In addition to the tasks we've outlined, we're also looking for photographers and videographers to contribute images and videos for our website and social media. If you love capturing moments, your skills can greatly enhance our mission. Volunteering with us is all about equality, friendship, and sharing. It's a chance to live, learn, and laugh as part of a community that values each person's contribution and unique sparkle. Here's what we promise: a volunteering schedule that respects your time and spirit, asking for no more than five hours a day of your magic, with one day off each week to explore, relax, or create. You'll rest your head in a caravan, shared bathrooms. While volunteers are responsible for their own food expenses, we've got your mornings covered with coffee, tea, biscuits, milk, yogurt, cereals, toast bread, jam, and butter.. So, if you're yearning to connect with nature, unleash your artistic flair, and be part of a community that cherishes friendship and sharing, we can't wait to hear from you. Share your story with us, tell us about your passions, and let's explore how you can leave your mark on our little paradise. We're sending you a big, warm hug and can't wait to welcome you into our community. Together, let's make this season unforgettable! 💖✨

I had a fantastic volunteering experience at Camping Casa dei Prati on Elba Island.

The campsite is surrounded by beautiful nature, with a quiet and familiar atmosphere. The team was extremely welcoming, making me feel part of their little community right away.

It was a very enriching experience, both from a human and professional point of view, and it allowed me to learn new skills and meet people from different parts of the world.

The work was well organized and balanced, also leaving time to explore the island and enjoy its incredible beauty.

I had the best time at Elba island💕
The work is easy and you have a lot of free time to explore the island🏝️ I think the experience is really depend of the people that you experience it with- I was so lucky to meet amazing friends there🥰
Elizabetta is really nice and flexible with the dates and the working hours
Just one thing- the lunch and dinner aren’t included and the food is a bit expensive

Unfortunately,my first volunteering experience didn't go as expected, i was disappointed with how everything was handled by the host. The caravans provided for us were dirty with dust, water leakage on the walls and rust in the corners, kitchen was unsanitary. The worst was when i woke up in the morning with big rashes on my body that were caused by the mattress, i believe it was dust mites or something worst, afterwards i went to the Host to explain the situation and find a solution but she wasn't cooperative, She didn't offer any other accommodation option so i had to end this experience early

Dear Elizabete,

We appreciate your feedback and are sorry to hear that your experience didn’t meet your expectations. We want to clarify a few key points for future volunteers to ensure transparency.

Before confirming your stay, we provided specific details about the accommodation—a shared caravan—and the nature of the tasks involved. You were informed that the only available option at the time was to share the caravan with a male volunteer. This was made clear, and we would not have proceeded with your application if you were uncomfortable with this arrangement. Furthermore, you received a list of potential tasks, including general cleaning, which is part of the volunteer duties.

Upon arrival, you expressed dissatisfaction, particularly with the comfort of the caravan and the fact that you had to share the space with a male, even though this was communicated beforehand. Furthermore, you did not agree to carry out the tasks assigned to you, such as general cleaning, which is part of the volunteer duties. You requested to be moved to another accommodation, but as previously communicated, all other types of lodging are reserved for paying guests, and we were unable to offer an alternative.

As mentioned in both our public description and private messages, we encourage volunteers to be prepared for a camping lifestyle—this is not a luxury experience, and comfort is basic. It appears that this environment may not have been the right fit for you, which we completely understand.

After less than two days, you chose to end the volunteering and moved to paid accommodation as a guest for the following five days.

We always strive to provide a positive experience for our volunteers and will continue to improve based on feedback. We hope this clarifies the situation for others considering volunteering with us.

Best Regards.

This was my first volunteering experience and I had the best time at Camping Casa dei prati! It took some days to get used to the camping lifestyle but i quickly felt at home there. The tasks were easy and Betty was flexible. I also some met amazing people there and explored the island in my free time. I would recommend to rent a car or to bring yours because it’s difficult to visit the best beaches without it. I would absolutely recommend it, especially if you like nature.
