Cocori Lodge
A small up-and-coming surf town, el Paredon Buena Vista is one of the world’s worst-kept secrets. Featuring gorgeous black sand beaches, a peaceful mangrove wilderness and a local tourism industry well-equipped to provide a great range of watersports, local cultural activities and a buzzing nightlife, there’s no shortage of fun things to do in this little piece of paradise on Earth.
A typical day volunteering for us could look like waking up in our comfy, air-conditioned volunteer dorm before wandering through the beautiful hostel grounds filled with hibiscus and palm trees to grab a freshly brewed coffee and enjoy a delicious beachfront breakfast from our restaurant. After that, you might join our daily yoga practice, head out for a surf lesson with one of our legendary in-house instructors (or head out on your own to improve your skills), sign up for a guided SUP or wakeboarding tour through the mangroves, learn how to cook like a local with el Paredon’s resident NGO or simply hang out in our beautiful pool or poolside hammocks before enjoying your volunteer shift behind the bar. But perhaps most important of all, past volunteers consistently describe Cocori as so much more than a hostel: we’re a family. You’ll be joining a family.
One of el Paredon’s ‘original’ hostels, we’ve been evolving and improving the Cocori experience for backpackers, flashpackers and surf enthusiasts from every corner of the world - at speed. But one thing that’s remained integral to our mission is our commitment to creating an experience that’s at one with our environment, nurtures passion for surf culture and builds community - locally and internationally.
Our management and amazing local staff are friendly and welcoming to new members of the Cocori family, and are always there to support volunteers in any way they can. Cocori volunteers can take advantage of 2 delicious meals a day, 5 days a week, great discounts on food and beverages, free surfboard hire, free daily yoga, free entry to our epic weekly and special exclusive events and full access to the hostel’s facilities. Our volunteers are also able to enjoy discounts on SUP mangrove tours, surf lessons, wakeboarding tours and more.
In terms of accommodation, our volunteer dorm features comfy bunk beds, personal lockers and (importantly for the el Paredon heat) air conditioning! On top of that, our volunteers can enjoy a dedicated private area all to themselves, featuring a fully-equipped kitchen, ping pong table, and a dedicated chilling area.
