During your free time you can explore world historical side Patan, Kathmandu valley or the botanical gardens... Thamel tourist area gives you many opportunities also.

There are many traditional Nepali villages in vicinity. I can bring you to Timal Tamang village (my hometown) with its unique culture, where you can homestay and volunteer as well.

Local cheap buses available to go to the city center. From there you have easy access to many buses to treks or other places all over Nepal.

For example there is a bus ride to the famous Chitwan National Park, home of unicorn rhinos, tigers and many animal species. But also: Himalayan trek in Pokhara, hike to Nagarkot, Namo Buddha, organic culture visits such as permaculture.
