1) Being the nightwatch: You are in charge of the hostel during the night, if people loose their card to enter, or the fire alarm goes off, or guests make to much noise you are the person to come into action.

2) Cleaning rooms + hostel: I have a cleaning team that can use your hand with making my 90 beds. Not 90 beds everyday ofcourse :) I've got 20 unique rooms. All of theme in a different Dutch theme check out the website www.helloimlocal.com

3) Get ready for some cafe fun! You'll be lending a hand during breakfast, lunch, and events – it's all hands on deck! Join the Hello I'm Local team and dive into a variety of tasks. From whipping up coffees to tackling dishes, sprucing up tables, and even helping out our chef!

# Explore the historic vibes of Haarlem, Amsterdam, plus nature reserves and beaches!

Haarlem's just a stone's throw from Amsterdam by train, and a breezy bike ride lands you in national parks and on sandy shores.

Volunteering here has been an incredibly rewarding experience. Connecting with the local community has given me a deeper appreciation for Dutch culture, and meeting travelers from all over the world has broadened my perspective. The atmosphere at the hostel has been vibrant and welcoming, making it easy to form meaningful connections with the staff and volunteers, It's been a perfect mix of personal growth, cultural exchange, and making lifelong memories.

Let me start by saying that everyone there was really cool, but there was a lot of issues going on within the hostel itself. Our dorm was super crowded, and the sink was clogged in our room the entire time I was there(even though we told staff about it immediately). Some of the hours/tasks we were asked to do as volunteers were out of our comfort zones, but there was never really a conversation about what we could say no to. I don’t have enough space to put everything, but I hope in the future for the sake of volunteers that there will be better communication and more respect for volunteers.

It was indeed an unusual period for all of us, with a lot of internal changes and challenges. Our goal is of course another, to offer a pleasant & fun experience, with new learnings. It was my first time volunteering abroad and I had a great experience in the Hostel Hello I’m Local. Haarlem is a cozy city and very convinient to know another Netherlands cities. The hostel’s staff is really kind and open to recieve new people. My english is not the best and all the people were very pacience and help me to improve it (thanks 🙏). The other volunteers that I met were amazing and lovely people! They became friends! I am going to miss them 🫶🏻. Thanks Tim, Abdel and all the team!! It was a pleasure the time shared!!

I had a good experience at Hello! The staff are really amazing, welcoming and kind people. The others volunteers have become real friends. Haarlem is a cozy city, perfect for relaxing during your free time.

My experience was nothing less than amazing and special. From the staff to the lovely town of Haarlem, it was an incredible time. The staff is very welcoming and open to ideas & implements them right away. Having access to bikes made this experience one of the best! I got to explore so much from riding around in near by areas ( please take advantage of that! ) I really felt immersed in the culture and very grateful to be apart of it. Thanks deeply!!
