HI Bergen Hostel Montana

Bergen Hostel Montana has launched a social volunteer program where young outgoing, enthusiastic people can volunteer. The volunteer undertakes activities such as: hikes (many...), games, barbecue, cultural kitchen, fishing, sightseeing, coffee (lots of...) and cookies, waffle baking, music - all in the name of cultural exchange and bringing people together. If you and our guests have other splendid ideas, you just bring them on!

We are a truly international staff. The volunteeers can expect to be treated with respect - and fun which will make it beneficial for all of us. The volunteers are NOT undertaking work that are otherwise been done by paid staff (e.g. cleaning etc.). We always have at least two volunteers at the same time.

This was my first volunteering experience, and it was amazing! Bergen is beautiful, the perfect blend between city and nature. The hostel had a great atmosphere, and you could always feel the good vibes. But the real highlight was the people, everyone was kind and supportive, which made the work enjoyable and fun.

The tasks were really fun, we meet knew people and got to explore the city and its surroundings while doing hikes, city tours, karaoke nights, board games etc.

I would definitely recommend this experience, you’re going to love it!

Amazing place surrounded by nature, the hostel is on a very high quality level. You will be responsible for organising and leading the activities very autonomously, obviously collaborating with other fellow volunteers. The staff is very kind, available, friendly and inclusive. An amazing experience in all its perspectives. I absolute recommend!

This experience was incredible! During the 6 weeks, we had between all the volunteers and the people working in the hostel a very good mood. All the people were fantastic; it felt like home. Also, you get to know a lot of guest and their cultures while you are doing the activities. And even if you are working on these activities (doing hikes, city tours, movie nights, saunas, etc), it doesn´t feel like that. I would extremely recommend this experience!!!

I had an amazing time volunteering in the hostel. The activities were lots of fun and we got to spend a lot of time outside. The staff members are great and we got to meet lots of nice people. I definitely highly recommend it!

When you grow up, you start to realize the difference between "normal places" and "places that are managed with a caring and loving staff"

That would be the brief summary of my stay here, from lovely workers, a lovely and caring management (special mention to Amarílis, Eva and Agnes) to lovely volunteers and locals.
