Hostel Villa Angelina Old Town
Hostel Villa Angelina is a very special hostel due to staff and relations with our guests. Being a small hostel we can enjoy great friendly atmosphere where staff is guest's friend. Staff is in charge to give all the best tips for guests to enjoy Dubrovnik area! Our guests can have unique experience without any prior research. Besides great relations with guests we keep our hostel spotless so guests can feel like at home! Cleanliness is very important for our guests!
We already had few volunteers at the hostel. To become a volunteer here you have to be very friendly and nice person who has great communication skills, is willing to help in any process of running the hostel. The main task for volunteers is to explain guests about the hostel and activities to accompany the guest to their rooms (private rooms are 5 min walk from reception). Volunteers can have free accommodation, if they are willing to work more we can offer them 1 meal.

Thank you to Dario, Matea, Milan and Anna for such a wonderful first experience volunteering! Matea and Dario were such kind hosts and respected the agreed upon hours. Milan and Anna were amazing to work with, both of them are so kind and helped so much! Tasks were as described, doing laundry, checking in guests and taking them to different buildings. Perhaps the hosts could provide a little more given the amount of hours you work e.g food. But Overall loved it and recommend it!

Overall great experience at Hostel Angelina, beautiful location to settle for a month during a hectic period of travelling. Solid hiring process means that the other volunteers are generally great value, and the full time staff are good people. Frustrating dealing with some outdated systems which haven’t scaled well as the hostel has grown. Provided constructive feedback pretty consistently but leadership seem to be slightly adverse to change. Hopefully during the quiet season they make some improvements. Also personally believe that the workload is a bit much for a volunteering experience.

Hostel Angelina was such a fun experience. I do think 6 hours a day is a bit much for only getting accommodations. However, I had a great experience and really enjoyed being in Dubrovnik.

The month I spent in Croatia was amazing but I wouldn’t go back to work at this hostel or recommend a friend to work at hostel Angelina. The amount of work you are doing does not make up for the living situation and they expect a lot of extra work from the volunteers. There were no real discounts given by the hostel for food or experiences and the only tours we lead were walks to the beach and a weekly bar crawl. This town is so expensive that though it was nice to have a free stay but it’s hard to live there sustainably without any other perks from the hostel.

I enjoyed my time at Hostel Angelina, and I met a lot of amazing people. However, communication from the manages was minimal; volunteers wouldn’t get our schedules for each week until late Sunday night (sometimes after midnight) making it difficult to plan anything. Additionally, some aspects of the experience weren’t communicated well beforehand. Volunteers stay far from the main building of the hostel and up a massive flight of stairs. Also, leading activities isn’t a big part of the experience, even though that’s noted on the site - the vast majority of the work is reception and cleaning.
