Hotel Bongo
Hello travellers!
We are Isabelle and Nico, and together we run the Bongo Hotel. Like you, we traveled and volunteered and actually started as volunteers at the Bongo. Unsurprisingly, we became obsessed with the incredible community and nature surrounding us and were lucky enough to stay onboard. We now call the Bongo our home!
The Bongo is a unique hotel nestled at the edge of the jungle between the cities of Quepos and Manuel Antonio. Visiting the hotel is a wonderful opportunity, especially for those who want to see a little piece of everything Costa Rica offers. Volunteers are guaranteed to see monkeys, enjoy stunning hikes to secluded beaches, and can join in on our games nights!
We are a popular hotel and take pride in the service that we provide to guests from all around the world. During the high season especially, we often find ourselves fully booked. There is no shortage of tasks! That being said, there is always time for fun and we encourage volunteers to share their talents and ideas with us. If you’re interested in doing something special, we want to hear about it! Typical volunteer tasks include housekeeping, restaurant prep/serving, reception, laundry, general maintenance, gardening/landscaping, and occasionally art, social media, photography, and website development.
Volunteers are asked to work 5 days a week. Each shift is 6 hours including a 1 hour break (5 hours actively working). You will have 2 days off a week in a row. Days off generally stay the same week to week. We ask for a minimum stay of 4 weeks.
Your perks as a volunteer include vegetarian food, dorm-style accommodation with comfy mattresses and linens (private rooms available for couples), full use of the pool open 24/7, on-site laundry, discounts on tours, a discount at the local tienda, and the beauty of the Costa Rican jungle!
If this sounds like a good fit, please tell us a bit about yourself and your skills. We look forward to hearing from you!
Pura Vida!
Each dorm accommodates 2 to 5 people.
We have 2 private rooms for couples.
Towels and bedding are provided with machine laundry on-site.
There is a shared kitchen for all volunteers. We provide plenty of vegetarian food to be prepared.
Volunteers share their workplace and the community with local Tico people. You can learn/practice your Spanish and seek to understand more about local ways of living. We hope volunteers can create a warm and welcoming space for all.
In your free time, there are tons of things to do and see! The bus to Manuel Antonio is only 10 minutes and there you’ll find popular beaches, restaurants, and the famous Manuel Antonio National Park. Right outside our property are networks of hiking trails to Playa Matcha and other destinations. Quepos is also a short bus or walk to get any additional groceries/goodies you may want.
