Easy access - A bus departs from Sapporo or Otaru station nearly every hour directly to iwanai. We can pick you up from the Iwanai bus terminal if you provide an accurate arrival time.
I am a 35-year-old man from the US. I have spent the better part of the past 14 years living in Hokkaido. Before moving to Iwanai I lived in Sapporo, Hakodate, and consider myself pretty knowledgeable in the area. I also spent a year and a half traveling through Asia, Africa and South America. I love to ski, hike, sea kayak and am no stranger around the bbq grill.

I had a great time in Iwanai. If you want to travel off the beaten path, this is definitely the place. All the people I worked with were funny and solid workers. Would kill to be there during the snowy season.

This volunteering was a beautiful experience. Working with Dan, John, and the Resort crew in general was really great. They are all respectful of your timetable and how you combine it with any other job you have. The landscapes were stunning and we could visit and enjoy them thanks to their help in terms of transportation or useful tips.
If you are a lover of Japanese food and want to connect with the locals, this is also the place for you. It's close enough to Iwanai so you can try its restaurants and connect with its people, far enough so you can enjoy peaceful nature. 100% recommended!
