Kingkool The Hague City Hostel

KingKool - the Hague City Hostel is really a place like no other. Since 2014, KingKool has become a home away from home for travelers all around the world, myself included. I first arrived as a volunteer and fell in love with the kool vibes, beautiful city and kick ass people I met here. What made me (and so many others) keep coming back was the fact that the owner- Jan, his family and friends, staff and guests, really have worked so hard to create everything that is KingKool. From the chairs at the bar and paintings on the walls, to each room having a different theme and pretty much everything being green, all that you can see at KingKool has been created by the beautiful people that have passed through. We get people from all walks of life either staying or volunteering here. From young to old, traveler to bachelor party, the KingKool doors are open and there is always space for one more in our KingKool family. So shoot us a message and join our KingKool family!

Here at KingKool good vibes are very important to us! We love the fact that, now after 4 years of being open we have a HUGE international KingKool family with people from all around the word staying in touch or even coming back to volunteer again. This shows how much we put our volunteers first, we organize family dinners, nights out and games .

I am very happy that I chose KingKool as my first experience with worldpackers. I can‘t even begin to describe how amazing my time here has been. The staff, as well as the other volunteers have been extremely welcoming from day one and I feel like I made lifelong friends while staying here. The work can be hard at times but we all help each other out. It feels like a big family and I would definitely recommend this experience to everyone. The hostel is right in the city center and there is always something going on, even if it‘s just drinking a beer at the hostel with the others.

I was very disappointed with my experience here. Here's why : -cold reception, no information about the hostel, activities of the city or even for the daily life here. You have to fend for yourself when you arrive.
- The volunteers literally sleep in a cellar with a small window that does not open. It is dark during the entire day in the room and the dormitory of 8 cannot be ventilated.
- the hostel managers don't organize anything for the volunteers. No event or friendly moment is planned, the managers don't care about the experience offered, they just want to clean their hostels for free.

The hosts Jan and Helen are super nice, the hostel facilities are very comfortable and the tasks to be carried out are easy and somewhat flexible.
