Komruka

We live totally off grid, water by a spring, solid fuel and gas for cooking and eating. We have been renovating this property for a number of years, but covid brought it to a total halt, seems to be easing now.

My husband Lance, and I, are semi retired, no other staff, we have 1 son with 5 children, so they might be here sometimes at short notice, volunteers are treated like family.

Komruka is a very quiet and peaceful place that will allow you to disconnect and enjoy the warmth of home.

Rose and Lance make you feel truly at home and are always there to help you with whatever you need.

During my stay, my tasks were mainly cleaning the house, general maintenance and sharing with two hamsters and a beautiful kitten🤍

I highly recommend this volunteering if you want to get to know the north of Bulgaria. (In addition to reaching your destination, a wonderful train trip awaits you🌱🚞).

Rose and Lance are excellent hosts, both very funny who made us feel welcome at all times. They both have a nice home that requires a lot of work, so I invite you to help them. The tasks were mostly entertaining, mainly gardening and maintenance and Lance was very kind to teach me how to use some tools. Work hours depend on the weather but are respected and you have enough free time to relax by the fire and watch a good movie. Komruka is a lovely place (especially covered in snow) and the train ride from Sofia is beautiful. It is also a few train stations from Ruse, which is a beautiful city.
