Morning Glory Montessori School

Our school is located in the town of Gava, a 30 minute metro ride from Barcelona. Additionally, we are located near Gava Mar, and therefore very close to the beach. At our school you would have the opportunity to work closely with children, as we try and maintain close teacher student relationships.
In the typical day we expect you to help organize and participate in activities with the children during their play time. Then, we expect that you are able to help in serving and cleaning up after their lunch time. You should be able to help with spoken language activities for the kids, especially in English. Examples of these tasks are reading books, rhymes and stories. The school will provide guidance on how to guide the students in the Montessori way, while doing all of these activities. We are also looking for additional skills a volunteer might have that they would be able to use with the students. So if you have any skills in mindfulness, gardening, music, dance, or any other relevant skills to share the students, please let us know, we would be happy to involve your skills in our guidance!

Our volunteers stay with the families of our students. As a part of your arrangement, you will work at the school four days a week and one day a week with your host family. You are expected to abide by the rules of your host family. However, living with a host family is a great way to fully immerse yourself within the culture of Spain. In addition it is a great opportunity to practice your Spanish and make long lasting connections here in Catalonia.
