I recently had the most incredible volunteering experience at Peace and Quiet Hotel, and I cannot stop gushing about it! From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with open arms by Björn, the most perfect host one could ask for. His warm hospitality and genuine kindness truly made this trip unforgettable.
The hotel is nestled amidst breathtaking nature, making every moment a scenic wonder. The pristine surroundings were a haven for nature lovers like myself. The beauty of the landscape, with its serene forests.

The nature is really beautiful. A lot of forest and in the summer you can also see the midnight sun. Sadly there was only me&another guy from workaway.( I was told there would be 3-4 other volunteers). That is a bit lonely if you’re living in small village. Also we had to be prepared for guest arriving 24/7, so we could never go to far away from the house and do longer hikes. Still, the host is a nice & patient person, but he definitely needs to improve on clear communication, so volunteers know what to expect & he finds volunteers that really match his place.

Thanks Clara for your nice review.Just to clearify 1 point; the work for you was much less than 25 h/ week and you were not on a 24/7 shift but 1 person in the team had to be ready to check-in guests during the day or evening. And the other could be off duty. And also during this response time you never needed to be in a reception but just be able to answer the mobile phone and agree with the guest of the check-in time the next few hours.
So in practice you where able to be anywhere in Jokkmokk until someone called even when you had your phone shift.
But for sure sometimes we have 1 volunteer (more similar to an au pair) and sometimes more people for the business but the person that comes will fit best if they can activate themselves and seek new contacts with the local community if they like to socialize.And Jokkmokk is famous for the most wild and beautiful nature in Europe so its good if you enjoy nature explorations.

I am not able to leave a good review because I only interacted with the host for less then 24 hours, has he left for vacation the following the day ( which was never mentioned in any of out chats) and I was left to take care of his house + his business. Not to mentioned that the house was a total mess when I arrived, really no conditions to receive guests. My advice for the future is to work on communication with volunteers before and upon arrival so they know what to expect and have a clean environment for them them. Unfortunately not a good experience at all

My time working with Bjorn at The Peace and quiet Hotel was awsome, I spent just over a month there and learnt so much in that time from fun activities like canoeing to how to install solar panels. The work ranges alot but i found nearly everything we did exciting and new. Bjorns family is super welcoming, and I felt right at home from the day I arrived, alot of the work is also around the house and with the 2 children. The town is small but fun to explore and lots of places to visit in the area if hikings your thing.
