rock and river
A relaxed atmosphere to work , in a team of volunteers. Great conversations, a beautiful river to explore and a nice farm to live at.
I am seeking to create a team of 4 to help prepare and assist in canoeing tours and prepare and care for guests during their stay.
Particularly I am interested in international or european driving license holders
Help includes meeting canoeists at our meeting point and driving them to the river and back again at the end of their journeys.
The majority of our canoeists are english speakers so volunteers must be confident to give instructions in english
Volunteers make part of a team working with the host to accomplish an ever changing environment of work.!! The Rock and River Schedule, preparing guest house and general garden work is given to volunteers to divide between themselves. I like volunteers whon are able to work as part of a team to plan their days between them.
Living conditions and general info:
I am English and have been living in Portugal for 10 years
I hope to provide a relaxed environment where volunteers can help and relax.
The accommodation space is very comfortable. Volunteers have use of a basic kitchen kitchen. There are no set meal times, but we plan and prepare meals together.
All food is provided by me.
If volunteers wish for extra items and alcohol they will have oppertunities to buy at local supermarkets
There is a bbq área and áreas on the farm to relax.
There is WIFI!!
The rock and river vehicles that volunteers will use for client collection is used only for work purposes only
There will be oppertunities to kayak and also to participate in a volunteer only kayak camping expedition.
Volunteers can take the bus to Tabua or Oliveira do hospital where I will collect them.
Information on bus timetables can be found on the rock and river website contacts page: www.rockandriver.com.pt
The rock and river facebook page is also a good place to visit as it has photos of day to day operations and photos of past volunteers.
It is really important that volunteers have a clear idea of the living arrangements and work duties before they come.
If at all possible I would really like to set up a skype conversation to ask a few questions and answer yours
The idea is that volunteers have a fantastic time here and enjoy their stay.
