Somos Hostal

We're one of the few places in town that work with volunteers, so you'll get to meet other backpackers and explore Antigua doing different activities, all while being kind to your wallet. What's important to us is that you have a good time and take our guests along with you when doing so.

You'll be surrounded by a team of friendly locals, happy to share their culture with you and learn about yours, and you'll be roommates with fellow backpacking volunteers, having the best of both worlds. Volunteering with us also opens the door to other opportunities in Antigua, with the businesses we partner with.

I always wanted to work in a hostel, and Somos was the best first experience as a worldpackers. The hostel is very clean and have amazing common spaces. The month I spent there went so fast and I felt home really quickly, as the volunteers and the people working there full time are very welcoming and helpful. Andrea was a super host, always available to answer our questions. The job itself is not that complicated (bartending, reception and running activities). Great perks with discounts on tour/shuttle/other hostel.
I would definitely recommend Somos, if you don’t mind sharing your room 😉

This was my first Worldpackers experience and I could not have asked for a better one! The hostel is so nice and an excellent place to make international friends! The work is pretty easy and it varies which keeps things exciting. Part of the duties were running the activities for the hostal which was awesome because you got to participate and it exposes you to the fun things to do around Antigua! By the time I left, I felt like a tour guide lol. Communication is great which was definitely appreciated! I would definitely recommend this host for anyone looking to get to know Antigua! :)

An amazing place to volunteer, with a great social chill vibe of the hostel and other volunteers, and a place that feels like home! Antigua was also really safe and a beautiful city to stay in for awhile, highly reccomend!!

Wonderful experience at Somos!! One of the cleanest hostels I’ve been to. Super cozy, fun, family vibe, comfortable rooms and common areas. I extended my stay an extra month because of how much I loved it. The staff is fantastic, and Andrea is a wonderful person to work for : open to communication, listens, and always tries her best to make everyone feel comfortable and at home. Would recommend 100000%!
