Spanglish Colombia

Fully immerse yourself in Colombian culture while learning Spanish. Spanglish is catered to foreigners who want an immersive experience and to understand the local culture in Colombia.
The school is nestled on the mountain with a view of Jericó. Experienced teachers teach the classes. Olga, the Colombian mother/grandmother of the house, prepares all the meals.
The school is approximately a 30-minute walk or a 10-minute tuk-tuk ride away. A beautiful landscape of mountains, farms, and trees surrounds Spanglish.
In the mornings, you can watch the clouds roll over the mountains as the dawn breaks. The fresh air is perfect for studying, reading, or practicing yoga while listening to the birds sing. The nights are quiet, as the school is far enough away not to have any road noise.
Jericó is a charming small town just 2.5 hours southwest of Medellin. Its average temperature ranges from 14°C to 23°C (57°F to 73°F), and it is surrounded by green forests and mountains that hide beautiful views, rivers, and waterfalls. In addition, Jericó offers many activities you can do in your free time. In the mornings, we have optional yoga/meditation/exercise, depending on the day, and in the afternoons, you can go to the river, take nature walks, or go hiking to the "Las Nubes" viewpoint. Walking through the town itself is a magical experience. Jericó has been crucial in the economic and cultural development of the Antioquia department and given the nickname "La Atenas del Suroeste" (The Athens of the Southwest). Today, it has a great variety of museums and historical sites. In addition, its colonial architecture, streets, buildings, botanical garden, numerous churches, and central square make it a wonderful place to explore. It's also a designated "Pueblo Patrimonio" (heritage town) of Colombia since 2013. Jericó's gastronomy and coffee traditions are notable. It features a wide range of restaurants serving exquisite food, and its coffee is renowned as some of the best in Antioquia.

Join the Spanglish Colombia family, immerse yourself in the local culture, and learn Spanish. Help us with various tasks at our school, such as marketing/social media, permaculture gardening, cleaning, or teaching English or yoga. We are also open to your expertise and can work together to find the perfect volunteer activity for you. In summary, you will enjoy the following: • 10 hours of group classes led by experienced teachers (2 hour of a cultural lesson tour of Jericó and 8 hours grammar lessons). (Option to add 4 hours of 1:1 private lessons). • Accommodation from Sunday to Sunday in a shared room, in a peaceful, clean, and welcoming place with access to fast Wi-Fi with speeds over 100 Mbps, and a beautiful mountain and tree landscape. • Delicious traditional local breakfasts from Monday to Friday (vegetarian option available). • Delicious lunches with the seasoning of a Colombian grandmother from Monday to Friday (vegetarian option available). • Shared and very clean bathroom with hot water. • Various activities at the school you can participate in, such as group yoga/meditation, movies, card games, billiards and beer nights, campfires, and cooking dinner together. • Insurance while you are in our facilities. • 15 hours of work on various tasks at our school.
