I stayed at the hostel for about a month and it was a pleasure working there. We got the schedule for the whole month in the first week, which made it easy to plan little trips or activities on our days off. Work would usually only end up being 2 - 3 hours a day depending on your speed and we either get two or three days off each week.
Sundays is always the busiest day with the most checkouts, so usually all volunteers have to work that day.
All the receptionists are super friendly and willing to help, and Carrie was lovely. Very accommodating and considerate. Always open to talk to.

While my stay started off good, we sometimes had 3 days off at a time, it was clean and organized, and I met a good friend there as it ended up me and this friend got kicked out early only 2 weeks into our stay with no warning or communication on how we could do better. The manger said our work was good but the owner whom I never met did not like how me and this friend talked and laughed together during working hours. Causing them to tell us to leave the next morning when it was 7pm at night. We were able to negotiate us staying one more day because of how unfair it was to us.

Despite positive reviews, I wouldnt recommend staying here. We got no introduction or clear work instructions in the beginning. The tasks were straightforward housekeeping, done in 2-3 hours, but expect hard beds and weak wifi in the rooms. After two weeks, my friend and I were told at 7 pm that we had to leave the next day, allegedly for talking during cleaning, despite completing our work efficiently. This was done without warning or chance to improve nor any communication beforehand. I'm very disappointed in the staff's behavior. If you like making work more fun don't come here.

I really appreciate all that Carrie has done for me and the rest of the other international volunteers. We had a good time thanks to the friendly vibe at the hostel so I'm happy this was my first place to do Worldpackers!!

Even if i didn't think It in the beggining, at the end I was sad to leave the hostel. All the stuff is really nice and they will try to help you in everything they can. You will work close with Peggy, and even if she doesnt speak fluent english she is so funny and nice. Everyone will remember the way she said lunchyy timeee. I had really good with the other volunteers as well. The work is easy to learn and only few hours per day. Depending on how many volunteers are at that time you will have more days together to see around. Tamsui is a nice city and calm if we compare It with Taipei. Thanks!
