You will get to see all the hidden gems that Shkoder has to offer while learning a bit about hostel hospitality and culture: hands-on experience with nearly every aspect of a working hostel.
Hello! I'm Zach (the one with the glasses in our profile pic). Our place is the collaborative dream of myself and my friend Albano. Albano is from Shkoder and is the real brains of the operation. He loves working out and sarcasm. I'm a former scuba photographer from the USA who has been adopted by Albania. Our dream is to create a hostel where anyone is welcome, a place that balances both daytime adventures with nighttime shenanigans. You will be treated like family here.

If you like to party, socialize, meet people from all over and celebrate every night, The galley is for you. A really fun experience in a beautiful city, with mountains and lakes that you absolutely have to visit. I really enjoyed working at the bar and I met people who are part of my life today. Thank you Albano and Eltion for everything.

Volunteering at The Galley is a fantastic opportunity to connect with worldwide travelers and contribute to a fun, new hostel in Shkoder. The owner Albano and manager Kieran make it a fun atmosphere and you can tell they truly care about you and your time with them. Albano is an amazing host and the Galley a really fun place to volunteer. It was very easy to adapt to the place and know people from all over the world.
However, communication can be improved since many volunteers got zero/one day off even tho the agreements were different. I was expecting to have at least one meal like all the other volunteering I did before but the owner used to buy groceries once a week therefore everybody was buying their stuff.
Overall it was a great experience and gave me the chance to discover Albania and travel bit!
