The Sophia project

This is because we offer a unique opportunity to experience semi-village/rural life with unique culture and tradition which includes our unique ways of life, natural and healthy food and langauge traditions. This place offer a relatively quiet atmosphere and a slow kind of life different from living in towns. We are a community that is open, loves visitors and treat them with love as one of us. Our place is secure and safe for the volunteers because we have our volunteers houses built in my own compound with a protective fence. As a host we open our home to volunteers, and welcome them as part of our family member. We stay and do everything together as a family.

I am the founder of the project, have worked with non governmental organizations for over 20 years interacting with different people from different cultures. I have travelled to different countries through work or visits including some European countries. This cross cultural experience has helped me work with volunteers very well and effectively. I am outgoing and open-minded person and easy to interact with. Our project is still young and do not have staff yet due to financial limitations, therefore we depend on volunteers to support the running of our project. Volunteers are our fellow human beings are always treated with love, respect and have the space to venture, share ideas and learn from both parties.

I spent a wonderful week with Nicholas and his family in Pap Onditi. They are all so kind, generous and welcoming. Nicholas is planning and building a wonderful little farm and I hope to return in the future and see how the garden looks when trees are planted in the holes we dug out.
