Programa detallado

Dhutanga Meditation Center is a place to call your home in Thailand. We will provide you with everything you need to live as we, bhikkunis (female Buddhist monks) do.

We expect you to be respectful, open-minded and proactive. There are always tasks to do, but no worries, the pace here is calm and slow, you will have a lot of time for yourself, too.

Accessing to real Buddhist knowledge is not easy for foreigners, that's why we decided that accepting volunteers from all around the planet would be a wonderful way to get everyone to be able to learn about this world.

There is a lot to say, but is way better if you just come and experience it yourself!

In order to improve the experience of the volunteers, we have limited the number of them and the dates when we will be welcoming them (1st and 3rd Monday of each month).

Actividades & Turnos

The center is formed by some different buildings that need basic maintenance and cleaning in a daily basis. We expect volunteers to clean the dishes during the day, sweep and mop the floor of different rooms, feeding the dogs by making a fire, feeding the fishes by riding a little boat... All the chores will take you from 5 to 6 hours daily, but you will be expected to be able to help at any point of the day with some other tasks. Some of them may include collecting coconuts or mangoes from the trees around the center, going to the market for some groceries, driving a tuktuk to get the garbage away... Don't worry, we won't ask you for anything you don't feel ready for!

We will also expect you to be part of some of our Buddhist rituals and meditation schedule.

Reglas

Other things to note:
1) Do not go out of the premises if not allowed
2) Do not drink alcohol and use drugs of any kind.
3) Smoking only in the designated places.
4) Every person must observe the 8 precepts of Vipassana only.
5) Must make a donation in accordance with all agreements prior to stay.

A respectful behavior (proper clothing - covering your knees and shoulders, listening to music only with headphones, not hosting parties or people overnight in the hut, women and men sleep separate, etc...) will be the only requirement, as this is a place for meditation, inner peace and self-development! Learning a bit about monks and proper behavior around them before your arrival is much appreciated. Here you can find an extended explanation of the 8 Buddhist precepts you will be asked to follow at any time.

Also, remember this is Thailand, after all. Expect some dishes to be "a bit" spicy,
