It was my first experience as a volunteer and I found it very nice. The city is incredible. As for the hostel, it's pretty cool. The negative point is that they don't respect your work schedule so much and ask you for things when you are on your free schedule.
Hi Larissa, could you explain about which more things you are talking about ? The shifts are really clear and we respect them so I don't understand the point… Sure that when you were there, the team of volunteers was small, so sometimes some emergencies to manage, but now wit th a team of 6/7 volunteers, each one only does his hours, even less !

It is my first WorldPacker experience as well as my first time being a hostel staff, and I am glad that it happened in this hostel!
Thomas is a great host who is open minded and friendly, you can discuss anything with him like changing duties, places recommendation...etc. His parents live in the hostel too and they are helpful and friendly.
Since the hostel is relatively new, you can even contribute your thoughts into the operation of the hostel as well as the bed allocations, it just like running the hostel together with Thomas and his parents and other staffs, I learned a lot from them!
Strasbourg is amazing City. The hostel is administered by one family. It's like a family's house. They have two flats, and the distance between them is around 100 meters. I had to clean all the flats, change and clean the sheets, make the beds, take out The trash, do the check in and the check out. One thing that have to be better is about the time to work, most time you don't have lot of things to do directly, but if come people in the morning, in the evening or in the night you have to stay there and wait. The flats don't have reception. The internet is good and you can clean your clothes.
This was my first worldpackers experience and liked it so much.
Thomas and his family are really nice and welcoming.
Tasks are simple and easy. Some days are more busy than others but there's always time to get to know the beautiful city of Strasbourg.
Even though I couldn't meet Thomas personally because he was on the hostel at El Hierro, he was always in contact.
I would like to go back to Strasbourg if I have the opportunity. I spent a really nice time and met awesome people! I will never forget this.
Thanks Thomas for giving me the chance to be part of this and for being so kind!
