Peter and his team were excellent hosts. He was thoughtful, understanding and flexible, and he gave all the space and time to carry out the activity. He takes care of the volunteers, and I can only feel gratitude. I felt Gran Hostel as a home in Banská Bystrica and I recommend this host to anyone who wants to discover a piece of Slovakia. First: the hostel is very nice and friendly with cosy rooms and lovely decoration. It is situated in a side street of the main square of Banska Bystrica. This is by he way a small but beautiful city with a lot of nice pubs, cafes and restaurants, a museum, parks and some other interesting things for sightseeing. I had never heard of it before and was very positively surprised when I got there.
Peter, the Hostel manager and his staff were really friendly and even took the time to show me the city. I recommend it for every worldpacker and regular hostel guest.

An incredible experience. The host Peter, very dear, a wonderful person with a big heart. We came here as backpackers, me and my boyfriend, but we ended up being stuck in Slovakia due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the Worldpackers month ended and we had no way out, the borders were all closed and Peter let us stay here for a while, until we managed return to our country. The Gran hostel cozy, beautiful, comfortable, clean and organized. Banská Brystica a small and cozy town with many mountains, skiing, if you want tranquility, it is worth visiting the peace. amazing experience

You have flexible time and Peter help you in what do you need.
The city is a place wonderful, quiet and have wonderful places that you can go.
I loved my experience at Gran hostel and I appreciate they made me feel at home.

My stay at the Gran Hostel was really fun! Peter, Jozef and Janka made me feel at home from the first day and were always very helpful to me! We spent some nice time while eating all together and also went out a few times which I thought was really nice. Regarding the work, it was the best I had to do as a volunteer so far because they gave me the freedom to chose a recipe for lunch and then buy the ingredients and cook for them and myself. The city in itself is quite small but absolutely beautiful and the area is perfect if you want to go hinking! I hope to come back and I already miss them!

The experience at Gran Hostel was great. Peter asked me to translate the website to Portuguese so the working hours were very flexible and I had a lot of free time as well. The hostel is small, but very well located, super cozy and relaxing. The town is also small so there's not a lot to do, but I'd totally recommend going there.
