Daring Escapes LTD
Your green escape in Nairobi
Our home sits in a quiet, leafy part of Nairobi where you wake up to birdsong, not traffic. The air is clean and fresh from all the trees around us. It's so peaceful you'd forget you're in the city at all.
The house is big, open and full of natural light. Outside you've got avocado trees, banana plants and a garden we actually use. A lot of what we eat comes straight from it. Fresh organic vegetables, picked the same day they land on your plate.
What staying with us looks like
You get your own comfortable room in a spacious house with everything you need. Supermarkets, cafes and transport connections are a short ride away, so you're never stuck.
Share meals and stories with us. Learn how daily life in Kenya actually works, not the tourist version. On your days off, walk around to see the tea plantations near the house, explore Nairobi's food scene, walk or run in Karura Forest, browse local markets or spot lions at Nairobi National Park right on the city's edge.
The volunteer work is flexible and it genuinely helps. You'll also meet travelers from all over the world. Some of our past volunteers still keep in touch with each other years later.
Stay 3 weeks or more and there's a bonus
A free game drive and camping night in Aberdare National Park. Elephants, buffaloes and antelope in the wild, then a night under the stars. You only cover park entry fees and split fuel with the other volunteers who join.
If waking up to birds, eating from the garden and doing something meaningful in Kenya sounds like your kind of trip, message me and let's make it happen 🌍
Hi, I'm Eric.
I'm the co-founder of Daring Escapes, a small adventure travel company I run with my partner Louisa. We started it because we fell in love with Kenya's wild places and wanted to show people the side of the country most tours skip. Think the Aberdares, Lake Naivasha, Samburu, Mount Kenya and spots that never make the guidebooks.
We're based in Nairobi in a quiet, green home surrounded by trees. We're a young team and we keep things simple. No corporate vibes, no bosses and workers. You eat with us, cook with us, share stories and probably start planning your own Kenya trip before your stay is over. Past volunteers have left as real friends and we still keep in touch.
How we treat volunteers
Like people, not free labour. Your time and ideas matter here. You get real independence: explore Nairobi on your days off, join us on spontaneous road trips or just stay home in the garden when you need to recharge. If you have an idea for how to do something better, we want to hear it. Some of our best improvements came from volunteers.
What you might work on
Tours and trips. Help us plan and organize safaris and hiking trips. You'll learn how a real Kenyan tour company works from the inside, from route planning to what actually happens in the field.
Content and creativity. Writing, photography, social media, website improvements. If you're good with any of these or want to learn, there's real work here that gets published and used, not busywork.
Adventures with us. We're often out in the field. Sunrise hikes, wildlife drives, camping trips. When it makes sense, you come along.
You'll get home cooked meals, honest Kenyan hospitality and a front row seat to how a small travel business runs. Come as a volunteer, leave as a friend.
