Ecolodge El Sombrero
Basically because the location. We are located by a lagoon in the Mayan Jungle. There ara great Mayan Sites around the ecolodge. There is abundant nature all around. Also they can help improve our business. It is a family business and a family atmosphere. It has been a small business that needs to grow and we need knowledge, experience and enthusiasm. Just two hours away from the Caribbean sea and one hour from the nearest international airport.
We are an Italian family that started the business about 20 years ago. We do not have much staff since the business is small. Most of the staff have been with us for aroud 5 to 10 years. We treat staff as friends and family. We take really good care of them. They are mostly locals.

¡Mi experiencia en el hotel, fue increíble! ¡Me sentí muy bien acogido, siendo parte del equipo! Todos fueron maravillosos. ¡Mucha historia para aprender en medio de varios sitios arqueológicos! La señora Gabriela conoce toooda la historia y todo sobre el lugar! ¡Muy agradecido por su ayuda en todo momento para aprovechar mejor los sitios arqueológicos y el lugar! ¡Muchos aprendizajes sobre la cultura Maya! Y los trabajos fueron tranquilos, tuve la oportunidad de trabajar más con las maderas y los letreros, recordándome de las prácticas que hacía con mi padre cuando era menor.

Ha salido todo muy bien, hemos pasado un tiempo increíble y el lugar es bellísimo. No hemos tenido ningún problema con nada, realmente una experiencia muy bonita con personas muy agradables para conocer y conversar. Lo que más nos gustó fue el lugar, con su naturaleza, su biodiversidad, tranquilidad, realmente pasamos un hermoso momento en yaxha, muchas gracias por todo.

En el hotel nos recibieron muy bien, el personal es muy amable y nos hizo sentir como en casa. El lugar tiene increíble flora y fauna, y las ruinas arqueológicas de yaxha y topoxte, a las que entramos como invitados de cortesía son imponentes. Las construcciones son muy vistosas. Recomendable llevar repelente para los mosquitos.

I stayed in Antigua and volunteered at the new Hostel Tinka. I helped to develop the menu and cook new items that would be on the menu. It was a great time the staff was very friendly and Sebastian was very kind. They had some delays with the opening of the place, so I am sure next time it would be even better. I would encourage anyone to go because Sebastian is very nice and communicative and Antigua is a beautiful city I loved being there.
