Ipsum Stella Nova

Ipsum Stella Nova is a dog school located in the north of Norway, surrounded by vibrant nature and gorgeous mountain trails we complete the package with the dogs we take in and care for. Those who come to us help to care for dogs the dogs that come to us for various reasons. Here you will get to know our many furry guests each with their own personality and needs, for those who love animals this is the best place you can come to.

I am Konstance, dog trainer and instructor who both trains the dogs and teaches people how to train their dog or more commonly assist with facilitating the training dogs that have been traumatized or has other problems or difficulties.

Kristin is the driving force behind Ipsum Stella Nova. She is educated in physical therapy for dogs and has lifelong experience with various animal species and has grown up with dogs. She finds great joy and motivation in sharing reward-based dog training with others, helping more animals and people develop a more harmonious relationship with each other.

Ole Andreas works in the military. He is a trained agronomist with a bachelor's degree in IT and a master's degree in emergency preparedness and crisis management. At the dog school, he leads nosework/tracking training and handles the practical part of puppy courses. He is also available for private lessons.

What you can expect with us.

At our dog school volunteers can expect to be surrounded by and spending a lot of time with dogs and nature. The majority of the work here is spending time with the dogs, cuddling with them and living in the moment, a perfect place to relax and experience nature surrounded by love and freedom.

Dog training is in itself a large subject with many different schools of methodology, we use positive reinforcement to encourage dogs to be happy and excited while being our training buddies and close companions. With a large variety in breeds and ages with the dogs there is a big difference in the dog's personalities which will give you a lot of experience during your stay.

Our volunteers are given their own space and free time, we respect everyone's needs and boundaries both for humans and pets, this is a fundamental part of who we are, this does mean we let you approach us rather than force people to socialize when they may not want to. We encourage our volunteers to visit nearby areas and explore the region while being a safe place for them to stay at. If they want to do extra activities in their free time we encourage them to come talk to us and tell us what they need and will do our utmost to accommodate, such as getting skii gear during winter or fishing equipment during summer.

All we ask for is that you to help us give the dogs that stay here the best care they can get.

Volunteering at the shelter was my first experience with worldpackers and I couldn't have asked for a better one! Konstance and her dad are two of the most lovely people I've ever met and I really enjoyed working with the dogs and learning how to train them. The work hours were absolutely reasonable and Konstance went out of her way to make sure that everyone felt comfortable and not overwhelmed. I had a great time and would absolutely recommend this experience to anyone looking for some quiet downtime!

I spent 1,5 months volunteering with the shelter in Bardufoss, Norway, taking care of dogs: feeding them and taking them on daily walks. The work was about 4 hours a day, and the schedule was clear and fair, so I always knew what was expected and still had plenty of free time. Both hosts were welcoming, communicative, and genuinely sweet. I had my own lovely room, with a shared kitchen and bathroom, and felt at home quickly. The best part was spending time with the pups and learning how to train them, along with meeting new people and enjoying such a majestic place. Highly recommend!

Un gran sitio para hacer un voluntariado. Konstance y sus padres son de lo más agradables, y los perros una maravilla! Estoy encantada con mi experiencia, con Noruega y con el lugar escogido. Un trato excepcional, ojalá poder volver pronto!!

I spent two months at the dog hotel. There can be many dogs at once, so the work can be demanding. Or there are almost no hoteldogs and you only take care of the permanent residents which are very sweet and love cuddles. You should be confident in handling different breeds and personalities, as some dogs pull hard on walks or are difficult around strangers or other dogs. Most, however, love cuddles and relaxing in the living room. Konstance is available on Discord for questions, but you mainly take care of the dogs yourself. You have to show initiativ in asking questions to get aswers you need
