It was an incredible and very meaningful experience with the children and the local community. Noxy, Vee, and Bernice were amazing and gave me all the support I needed. I will miss the children, especially the little troublemakers Luluko and Lino, and the princess Okutle! I enjoyed the experience so much that I will be coming back at the end of September to spend another week there.

It's a new project among many run by Vee and Noxy. There is still a lot to be done, and if you volunteer there, you certainly won't be bored! While the main role is teaching, you're also welcome to help improving the space with cleaning, cooking, and others. They're very open to new ideas. However, the primary goal is to bring new perspectives to the locals, including supporting English learning from an early age. For that reason, interaction with the children and their parents is the most important part of the experience. It certainly changed my perspective and I'll be grateful for that.

Na verdade meu intercâmbio nem chegou a acontecer. Foi feito a confirmação, começamos a conversar e durante os dias fui tirando dúvidas (afinal seria minha primeira vez na África do Sul). Mas depois de alguns dias, perguntei mais sobre o projeto, enviei o print do meu voo.. simplesmente a Noxy parou de me responder. Não foi um problema no celular/whats (eu via seus stories) nem no aplicativo porque chamei por aqui também e nada. Ela simplesmente não se comunicou mais comigo e me deixou na mão. Uma falta de respeito enorme comigo que merecia no mínimo uma justificativa.

I want to sincerely apologize for leaving you without a response. At that time, I was pregnant and going through a very difficult period, constantly in and out of the hospital. It was overwhelming, but that is no excuse for not communicating with you.
You were making a big effort to come to another country, investing your time, energy, and money, and you deserved clarity and respect. I feel deep regret for letting you down, and I take full responsibility for my actions.
