The hostel is a Christian hostel and how this impacts you as a cleaning volunteer is that in the mornings there is devotion from 9.30-10am. I am not religious but I really enjoyed this sessions in the morning because we spoke about topics important to our development as people and shared stories from experience. Having this talking session in the morning was really healthy way to start my day. On the topic of work it can be tiering because there is much work to do and do it quickly before lunch time but then you do get about 45mins to have lunch before you do your last task

This was my first experience working in a hostel and I certainly had a positive experience. Everyday we are given different chores to do such as cleaning of washrooms, making of beds or cleaning an area in the hostel. The workload was fair as we were compensated with endless tosti's (a Dutch snack) afterwards! More importantly I met lots of great people from various parts of the world and it was awesome to hear about their journey thus far. Even myself not being religious, the staff of the hostel respected my views and I thank them for that. Thanks again for having me! :) -George
