THE RUMI HOSTEL
We are a busy hostel, welcoming travelers from all over the world.
Our kitchen and living room are always full of inspiring conversations in different languages, shared foods of all cultures.
We have a cute front yard with wooden benches, green bamboos and flowers to sit and have a cup of coffee, a back yard and a patio to enjoy your free time or do some yoga, a studio space for recording music/videos, dancing and movie nights.
We are in the middle of Los Angeles (20 minutes to downtown, 30 minutes to Hollywood), which offers endless opportunities to go out, make new friends, study and explore.
We have a big multicultural team of volunteers, we love to share our lives, dreams and concerns, and we are open for new connections.
You should keep in mind however that a hostel environment is not an easy place to be for an introvert, especially when you are part of the team: it is rarely quiet, and not everything goes as planned. You will of course have plenty of free time, but we would really appreciate responsible and motivated people who are genuinely willing to contribute into making our place better both for the guests and for the team.
If you know what hostel life is like and feel like this is something for you, or want to level up your communication skills (or if you are a zen-master deep inside), then we can't wait for you!

I had an amazing experience at the hostel, the perfect place to meet new travelers and locals. the work hrs are super chill, and u have plenty of time to explore the city :) also the staff and manager are very helpful. definitely reccomend this place!

I really enjoyed my stay here, and this was actually my second time volunteering at this hostel. The work schedule gives you plenty of time to explore the city, and the manager is very organized, understanding, and flexible when you have other commitments. The other volunteers were also great. the hostel is very centrally located, making public transportation easy, and there are always events and things to do around the city. I'd definitely recommend this experience to other volunteers!

Doing a volunteer program at a hostel like the hostel is a great opportunity to meet people from all over the world and make new connections. If improving your English is one of your goals, you'll have many opportunities to practice it, and you'll also hear many other languages every day.You'll have enough time to explore Los Angeles. There are buses and the metro nearby, so it's easy to get around, although it can take some time.The manager and the owner are very nice. the hostel is clean and organized. If you've never done a hostel volunteer program before, I think it's an experience worth having

My first volunteering experience was at the hostel and it was the best kind of place I could have hoped for! The tasks were easy and we got our schedules beforehand so it was easy to plan also other things to do during my stay. The manager and all the other volunteers were nice and made me feel welcome. I can really recommend the hostel as a place to volunteer!

The team is mainly girls and the shared room is female only with bunked beds. Everyone is respectful and the rooms are kept clean. There's no curfew just be mindful of noise for roommates and guests. There's three position: Morning host 11am to 3pm Night host 10:30pm to 1:30pm Day host 12pm to 11 pm (only for long term volunteers) Everyone starts as morning host. The work includes making 30 beds per day, cleaning and organizing rooms and taking care of plants and trash. It's quite physical but manageable without experience. The schedule is given weekly. The managers are great!
