In 2006 my husband and I moved from Germany to Croatia with the intention of a simple life in a natural, rural and clean environment. A few years ago sadly my husband passed away. In the meantime my mum moved in, so it's the two "old ladies". :) Now I am trying to handle the "farm" on my own. During our life here we have realized how many poor dogs and cats are abandoned and we started "picking" them from the street, giving them shelter and home.

The trip was great. No running water caught me off guard but it's really not bad you get used to it pretty quick. Best part was how accommodating Tihana is. It was a culture shock for me when I showed up but she put effort into making me feel better. Mostly through cooking. Her cookings really good. Dogs are all lovely and friendly aswell. Not much to do there so I'd recommend bringing a car or being comfortable with hitchhiking because there are no shops within reasonable walking distance. The work was great. Impossible to be fairer about work than Tihana. Would definitely recommend.

I had a wonderful time with Tihana and all the dogs! Tihana is kind, generous and friendly, and the work is more than fair and thoroughly enjoyable, surrounded by nature with the pack always around to keep you company. The dogs are incredibly sweet and need lots of cuddles, so be prepared! Tihana's cooking is delicious and she makes sure you're well fed. I was lucky to meet her family too, who took me in as one of their own. I truly felt welcomed and grateful to be treated as part of the family. Thank you, Tihana, I loved it!

Tihanna is a warm welcoming lady who always makes sure you are comfortable and well fed. The dogs are amazing and love the company. Work involves dog care and garden task which we found fair and enjoyable. It is in a beautiful space by the mountains with a short bus/hitch hike to the coast. Be warned, you will fall in love with the dogs and want to bring them all home :)

My stay with Tihana was wonderful! We slept as a couple in a caravan, and Tihana provided us with a heater when the temperatures dropped. Something to keep in mind before your stay is that there's no running water. Working with the dogs was wonderful, and we got attached to them very quickly. Aside from working with the dogs, there were plenty of chores to do on the farm. Tihana was very fair about the work, and the workload was manageable. At first, we had a few misunderstandings with Tihana, but I found it very positive that she addressed the situation openly. We wish them all the best.

Despite some initial difficulties caused by misunderstandings, we had a lovely and enjoyable time with Tihana. The two weeks flew by because of all the stuff we were doing. Tihana always makes sure the work is varied and fair. We've all grown particularly fond of the dogs. One day, Tihana even took us into town and to a market, which was really lovely. She always cooks delicious meals and makes sure there's plenty of food in the fridge so that we can prepare our own breakfast and dinner. We wish Tihana and all the dogs on the farm all the best!
