We are an awesome surf hostel, located outside of Lisbon in the sunny Costa da Caparica. This family-owned hostel is the realization of lifelong dreams and long-term experience hosting couch surfers, teaching surf lessons, giving tours, and offering great times to fellow travellers in the Lisbon area. You can enjoy a Portuguese paradise at our beautiful red house, located only a 3 minute walk from the beach. Downtown Costa is just a short bike-ride or a leisurely walk away. We are also close to amazing natural areas like Arrabida that are great for hiking or tours. Our shared spaces include a large, cozy lounge area with handmade furniture, games, instruments, and a warm, roaring fireplace. There is an outside bar area with grill and wood-burning oven, a big lawn and swimming pool, hammock, and warm outdoor shower. Our kitchen is modern and fully equipped to put together excellent meals! There are lots of things to help out with - reception & administration, cleaning the bathrooms and kitchen, making beds, gardening, socializing with the guests. You will work for 6 hours per day with three days off a week. So usually, it is really not hard work, we are nice people and want the volunteers be part of the family :) We also have two cute dogs! In exchange of your help you share a staff room in the hostel with other volunteers. You will also have some free surf lessons! We are looking for volunteers that can stay for at least three weeks but longer stays are very welcome!! We are looking forward to hear from you! :)
Ricardo, owner: I am a really friendly and social person. I like to share experiences and to have good conversations. I love art, make tattoos and graffiti, and of course to surf!! I speak Portuguese, English and Spanish fluently. During high season I have so much to do, and sometimes hostel ownership can get very stressful, but I always try my best to be a good host. I am very upfront and honest, and appreciate the same back.
From the day I arrived until the last I felt at home! Ricardo is a great host, always ready to help with whatever you need! And all the guys on the staff I shared with this month were the best!
After my stay here I took new friends and for me it is the most important thing!

It was my first experience volunteering and I really enjoyed my stay with the team. The hostel felt like home after only a few days, and the big advantage is the location you can just grab the surfboard anytime and enjoy the ocean! Lots of love and gratitude for my stay with the guys!

7 waves was my first worldpackers experience and it couldn’t have been better! The hostel is really nice, the bathrooms clean, the beds are comfortable. Angi, the manager, is very organized, straightforward with the tasks, and flexible to help you out if you need anything! Thank you Angi for your delicious pancakes as well😁 Ricardo, the owner, is also always taking volunteers on adventures to viewpoints, beaches... It was really beautiful. During my free days I got to go to Lisbon as well, so it’s a great place to stay if you want to get to know nice beaches.

This was a great first worldpackers experience. It was raining the day I arrived so the lovely Anna collected me from the bus stop and took me to the hostel and the kindness continues from there. Ricardo keeps you on yours toes and likes to be fun with spontaneous bbqs and road trips to Lisbon and Sintra. Angi keeps the shifts running smoothly and organised in a calm friendly way, starting the morning with her awesome pancakes. Shifts are good, the work wasnt too hard and they make sure you always have two days off. Staff girls only dorm and I loved all the other volunteers I worked with.
