Connections, English institute
CONNECTIONS is a quality certified English institute accredited by International Certification & Training S.A. which offers foreigners the opportunity to have a PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE TEACHING ENGLISH and make a CULTURAL EXCHANGE. Apart from that, foreigners in our program receive other benefits as FREE ACCOMMODATION, FREE MEALS, SPANISH CLASSES, OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES and SALSA CLASSES. Teachers must teach 20 hours per week (4 hours per day from Monday to Saturday).
There is a program fee to organize the student´s placement, airport pick up and expenses such as: local staff wages, administration costs, program supervision, program placement, orientation, accommodation, food and all the benefits mentioned above. 24x7 support in case of an emergency.
The program fee to volunteer with us for four weeks is only U$200; and extra weeks for U$25 each.
On the weekends, we go hiking, rock climbing, horseback riding, camping or rappelling. Teachers can also arrange their leisure-time themselves and travel around.

Connections me ayudo a desarrollar mis habilidades enseñando idiomas, así como tambien a socializar, conocer y convivir con otros extranjeros y locales. Nunca voy a olvidar esta experiencia en Colombia, estoy seguro que voy a extrañar muchisimo al equipo de trabajo, me enamore de sus arepas y paisajes a los al rededores de Ibague, se los recomiendo 100% porque tambien el Host fue muy amable conmigo en todo momento!!!!

When I landed in Colombia unfortunately I got sick and was unable to travel on the original date, but Alex was understanding about it. When I was good enough to go, he picked me up from the bus station and drove me to the institute.
There are two rooms upstairs with a shared bathroom. Clean and nice! Good accommodation.
As for the work, it was very easy. I taught evening classes and sometimes the morning class. I enjoyed interacting with my students as well as the other volunteers, albeit if I was very shy. This experience really helped me a lot. I was comfortable and safe the whole time.

I have chosen this project because of a unique opportunity to gain teaching experience and all my work has paid off. Students have been amiable as well as eager to learn English which has made my experience truly rewarding.
In addition, Alex is a friendly host who makes the planet better giving others a chance to develop. Alex also delivers Spanish classes if you wish.
What's more, I had an epic adventure when visiting Salento amd Cocora valley. I've been travelling a lot so far, yet never had I seen such stunning views!

I had a good experience at Connections. It was my first time teaching, and I liked it overall. The students were friendly and we had fun during the lessons.
I shared a room with another teacher on the upper floor and we we received one meal per day. The horse riding activity was a nice touch and added some variety to the routine.
We had three hours of Spanish classes per week, which helped me to some extent with my language skills.
The city is surrounded by beautiful nature, . Overall, it was a positive experience.

It is a very good place to stay. You teach a couple hours in the morning and a couple in the evening. It is safe, the accommodation is nice and he is a great host. He will take you to do activities such as rock climbing and horse back riding for free every weekend if you want to do.
