My place, is a small and very well located hostel. Eixample is one of the best areas in Barcelona, very near to most of the turistic buildings. We try to be always in a very good enviroment, no stress admited! We work hard but try to be always in a good mood.
We are now only 4 persons working here. We work hard to have everything ready with positive energy. There s a spaninish girl that cleans during week , other girl that cleans and also work in reception and a guy the same. Me , i work full time in recption. Volunteer are very wellcome here and they will have here all necessary to live. We basically try to do things easy and quick. This is the way i like; easy and agile, but no stress.

Conocí personas increíbles y el host fue muy buena onda conmigo siempre, la voluntaria que estaba conmigo, increíble !

What a great experience ! Thank you to Toni and Kristall for allowing me to stay in their hostel. The hostel is perfectly located in the heart of Barcelona with easy access to public transport, food and wonderful sights. The hours were always respected and Toni is very flexible and helpful when it comes to visiting Barcelona and work hours. Great atmosphere at the hostel and an overall good time. Thank you so much Toni!

I hesitate to leave a negative review because this was overall an extremely confusing experience. When I first came, everything was great. Very welcoming, easy work. And then I had an emergency back home and told Toni. Again, at first he was kind about it. I told him I would stay a week to help him find a new volunteer, and then when I told him I would start looking for flights he started saying some really insulting and paranoid things. I tried three times to get him on the phone, but his texts became increasingly more strange until I no longer felt comfortable staying.

Olivia, you need to be more active and honest with the host next time. We helped you in all we can but you made it difficult.

My experience at Diagonal House was excellent. During my one month stay I was able to get a lot of valuable Spanish practice and was able to learn how to work reception and how to effectively run a hostel. Toni and Kristall are very friendly people and will take the time to help you learn how to work the reception and will be there if you have any questions or concerns. To be clear, this is a solo position, so you will be given a fair amount of responsibility, but it really is not a big deal and you get used to it quickly. You’ll also be given plenty of free time to explore Barcelona.
