Duckstay Hostel

The area has a good public transport network. It only takes 3 mins walking to subway station. Very close to downtown city. We're located in a very traditional area of Taipei city where you can explore the history and authentic culture. We offer free meals. Also We have many fun events to join.

We're friendly and helpful. It's our passion to introduce our culture to volunteers, especially the traditional part. Also we would like to know their own culture in exchange.

Wonderful localization. Work time is fair, and food taste. Other volunteers and staff at the front desk really friendly.

Duck stay is a very nice place. It is clean and accessible to almost everything. But all I did was work there, I didn't have much time to go around because we work 5hrs a day. You cannot use the cooking equipment, they just give you $150 credit at the bar 5x a week because you don't have redits for food during day off. The bar is also closed every sunday and monday. The staff there are not too social except for Max and the ladies from the bar. There is also no night shifts, free tours and free events.

it was a really nice experience, the team and the place are awesome. I definitely recommend it

The moment I set foot in Duckstay I knew there was something special about this place. The staff was warm and welcoming right off the bat. The hostal has a very intriguing style which is a mixture between a warehouse and a Hi-Tech security facility with enough homely details peppered in that make for a very unique atmosphere. Wendy, Andy and Cola were very hospitable until the very end and I enjoyed hanging out with them, particularly after hours. I'm glad I made such good friends during my stay. I recommend Duckstay to just about anybody!

From the bottom of my heart, thanks for everything!

As a solo traveler, when I decided to look for a volunteering experience, part of my motivation was to meet new people and actually interact. The permanent staff at this hostel barely interact with the volunteers and in two weeks that I stayed there (I left a week early) I was never given an opportunity to do something that would make me interact with the guests. I only cleaned. 5 hrs a day of housekeeping. They give you a list of things to do in the beginning of your shift but if you complete that list before your shift is up, your reward is not more free time but more work. Terrible deal.
