Elsebråne Organic Farm

We created a space where the simple life can be enjoyed and you are welcome to be yourself. We mean cultural exchange seriously and we want to integrate you in our lives as a family and show you everything. We offer you the opportunity to learn about organic farming, our vegetarian restaurant with delicious cuisine, our sustainable values, nontraditional methods, and how to work in a team. Located in an old farm near Karlshamn, we’re building a happy family based community where authenticity is valued and your participation in this journey is invaluable. We are honored to be a Top-Host and even more honored to be one of 10 Top-Hosts chosen for the "Worldpacker Award for Sustainability 2024".

We dedicate ourselves to sharing our passion for social living, friendship, sustainability... and we love to share delicious food and gardening also with our guests, creating a welcoming environment where everyone can relax, close to nature. We invite you to come and learn by doing, to grow from your experience, and enjoy building your body through ever changing work and physical challenges. It takes self-discipline and some devotion to find and use our skills and talents and a lot of understanding and training. It takes much more knowledge to run a farm and a sustainable business than many would expect. In the café we cook, serve people, clean, prepare cozy Bed & Breakfast rooms, all while we learn how to live sustainable, in a simple beautiful way – of course when you come to us, you will be the one cleaning, cooking, digging etc., how else could you learn? When Summer comes, our garden gets more exciting with visitors from all corners of the world and things get really busy. But this is also the time for you to come and visit. We will offer you the opportunity to try a long row of different functions in the short time you are here. And you will most likely be in every single function too short time to really learn it. It also takes us resources to tell you things and train you in the different functions. Therefor we do not expect you to create value for us. And that is not the point either. Our philosophy and culture focuses on helping people to grow and understand themselves and the world so we can take better care of each other and of our vulnerable planet. There is much to understand in this time of great changes. We therefor take the concept of cultural exchange very seriously.

I really enjoyed my time at the farm and the café. I felt very welcome. Working in the café was fun and busy. We had a lot of free time to explore beautiful surroundings and go on trips.

This was my first volunteer experience and I had a wonderful time working at the farm!! I loved being surrounded by pure nature. The people on the farm were lovely and I loved the food!! In the evenings we played a lot of board games, which were always fun.
You have to be aware that there isn’t much going on close by and the simple way of living might not be for everyone. I would recommend coming before September, it starts to get really cold in September…
Overall I couldn’t have wished for a better first volunteer experience then this one :))

I had a good experience volunteering here overall. The people on the farm were very nice and welcoming, and I met many new volunteers. The farm work was just as described on Worldpackers, with flexible hours. The food was delicious but somewhat repetitive since it’s usually leftovers from the cafe. The farm itself can be quite messy and doesn’t get cleaned often. I recommend bringing your own bike to explore the beautiful surroundings. For more details about the farm and community, researching the hosts (Pavlína & Søren) is a good idea.

The community was welcoming, making my first Worldpackers experience comforting. I enjoyed good food and a comfortable shared dorm, but nights can get cold in autumn. My café work involved cleaning and organizing; I expected more cooking and serving, but they respected my working hours and days off. The farm is a peaceful retreat in beautiful Swedish nature. For city activities, you can bike to Karlshamn or take the train to Lund or Malmö. Overall, I enjoyed my stay, meeting diverse people, having great conversations, and playing games together.
