I spent three months with Pedro and Liza and during that time I learned many things and had a great time! The first month was more busy due to a horse festival that was happening in Golegã, but I didn’t mind, because I got to ride at the festival, which was amazing. I met many new people from all around the world, other volunteers as well as Pedro’s clients and friends. I got to make so many nice memories and I’m already thinking of going back in the summer :)) I went there with the intention of (not only) improving my riding, which was definitely fulfilled and I’m so grateful for that ❤️

We volunteered on other farms before and compared to them the first impression on Pedros farm was quite a shock. We were picked up an hour late and were greeted quite unfriendly. In general the whole atmosphere and the hosts attitude towards us and the other volunteers was never really welcoming.
We had no issues with the working hours or the amount of work, except that there was no time for exploring. The only „day off“ was Sunday but the horses still had to be fed. The main reason we left early was because we didn’t get along with the hosts and never felt comfortable there.

Additionally to Rosalie’s comment: Pedro promised different things on his profile than what we got. The only way to leave the property is with them and if you don’t feel comfortable with the host it’s not something you can enjoy. What contributes to this uncomfortable environment are the inappropriate comments about bodies, sexuality or nationality. We personally would not recommend this place.

The farm was great and very beautiful but just not the place for me personally. The food was great and work was as expected. All the facilities were great and It is a great place to connect with nature and animals.

Unfortunately, my experience with this host was disappointing. From the beginning I felt neither welcome nor appreciated. The hosts were not very kind with the volunteers, and I personally experienced almost bullying remarks in front of other people. This created an uncomfortable and hostile environment along with the frequent racist comments. I have no complaints about the workload, but I felt uncomfortable many times, even when we asked for basic supplies, like toilet paper, the response we received was rude and dismissive. I'm sorry to say this but I don't recommend this experience.
