Guesthouse Arhontiko - Bed and Breakfast

Guesthouse Arhontiko is a peaceful, quiet place in the mountains. Most of our guests are people who hike and enjoy nature. You will enjoy the quiet time of the village.

We are a family of 4 and we run our family Guesthouse in the mountains. We are easygoing, hardworking and love to spend time with people who enjoy nature and appreciate good food, wine and the wilderness. Living with us is a "filoexinia" experience, where you get to meet the true Greek living.

I had a great time at arhontiko guest house, Mary and George made me feel like I was part of the family. However, the volume of work was not how we agreed on. I had 2 days off in the 4 weeks I was there and was expected to be available for work basically the whole day. I did not mind the work, but I feel like it needs to be communicated before hand. I was the only volunteer so maybe it is different when there is two, but that was my experience

Thank you for staying with us and helping us during June. Every help not matter little or big, is highly appreciated. Concerning the days off, I have noted down 5 days off (2 in Sparte, 2 in Anavryti and 1 during the big USA group visiting), so although I am not sure if you used all the days off, it was definitely not 2. We do expect volunteers to be committed which means that when spending 2 hours on the first shift, they are expected to fill the extra hours during the rest of the day. We will make sure to make this clearer in our listing.

We hope you enjoyed your first Worldpacker experience and gained something from it.

I experienced a sweet village, greek culture, amazing food and learned some greek.Me and Andrea that I’ve met, were staying in a nice flat.Leo,the contact person doesn’t live there.Mary&George, his parents are the hosts.During my stay, there was an enormous lack of communication!(heard our host complaining about us in greek/found out that she was complaining to her son instead of talking to us.Shocking.The transportation was also not as described(taxi to the city is 25€)!Our working hours weren’t clearly counted/separated from our free time.Maby we catched a busy month, but communication is key!!

The Guesthouse and familiar business Arhontiko is a beautiful place to meet Lakonias. George & Mary welcomed me, I was able to experience the greek culture through the amazing food, mountains and a few local people. Sadly it doesn't go far than that, as the weeks went by it began to feel a tense environment instead of a volunteering: the host was not a single day around and now he reviewed our work based on complains by Mary (actual host) while I and my volunteer partner were praised and thanked by her most of the time for the work done. Notice there was no help to move around than a $25 taxi

Myself and my partner had the most incredible time In Anavryti! Our daily tasks were enjoyable and we were made to feel part of a family as soon as we arrived. While living in the mountains, we met many interesting guests and enjoyed socialising in the evening, eating Maria’s amazing food and listening to George play the Bousouki. We loved every minute of our stay and will definitely be back!
