Gulvilla

We are located in the Northern Sweden where population density is low and we are surrounded by nature - forests (with berries and mushrooms to be picked), lakes and 2 rivers (with opportunities for swimming, sauna and fishing) within a walking/cycling distance. We have bicycles and a canoe available for your use to go and experience what Sweden has to offer. Here during the summer the sun never sets and winter is dark and cosy with the fireplace amongst the whiteness of surrounding snow. Northern Lights can also be often spotted if your clothes are warm enough to let you stay outside.

Also half a year-long winter has its charm with possibilities for dog-sledging, cross-country and downhill skiing, ice skating, igloo building and snowball fights just to name some of them.

Here you will have a possibility to contribute to our sustainable garden project and home renovation and by that gaining the hands on skills. You will also become a member of our family hopefully providing some care and possibility to learn more about different cultures and ways to look at the world to our two girls (6- and 4.5-years old).

We are a family of 4 and as you will be living with us we offer you to become a part of our family for a while. We have moved into our dream house 2 years ago and we are currently renovating it inside and outside trying to apply permaculture design into our garden. The house has 3 bedrooms, one of which is available for volunteers, dependent on the number of volunteers we can also arrange bedding in our living room which can be conveniently separated from the rest. Also sleeping in a tent with a full access to the house for all other needs is a possibility if you value your privacy. We are a multilingual family, I was born and raised in Poland, my husband grew up in South Africa and we moved to Sweden, to pursue our doctoral degrees in Plant Science, over 10 years ago where we met each other and we found home. We speak Polish and Afrikaans to our children, English with each other, and Swedish with the locals. We are avid travellers, although that has been somehow hindered in the last years by covid and rising our children, while working. Because of that we would like to bring the word into our doorsteps. Come and bring your parts of the worlds, experiences and stories into our life. Help us developing our sustainable project.

My time at Bernards and Gosias place was nice!
I worked most of the times in the garden but often we went to the lake afterwards and they even took me with them to Lappland for a weekend trip😍
They have 2 little girls, that are super sweet but you have to be patient and kind.
If you want to garden, like to be with kids and get to know Swedish nature in a multicultural family this place is for you😊
