Hedgerow

Experience small farm life with easy access to Santa Cruz beaches, forests, and culture. People love to come here to surf in the afternoon, hike on the weekends, and generally relax in the sunshine. Mornings are busy tending to the animals and land.

Busy mom running a homestead focused on cultivating a diversity of food while educating and creating an ecotourism destination with an emphasis on permaculture, regenerative practices, and nature connection. Visitors are treated warmly but given space to explore, try new things, and exchange ideas. We generally only host 1 or 2 people at a time and share a game / dinner night once a week. Must enjoy working outdoors and know the tasks are mostly always physical, and sometimes dirty.

I had the most incredible experience at Hedgerow Farm ! Jennifer is so thoughtful and always here to help, teach and make your experience the most comfortable, interesting and fun possible ! Her farm is absolutely beautiful and I was so happy to be part of it for these few weeks and got to learn a lot while having a lot of free time to visit the area :)

My experience here was truly amazing! The farm Jennifer and her family have created is such a lovely space. I stayed in small private cottage and regularly awoke to goats, geese, sheep, rabbits and chickens at my doorstep. If you are an animal person this will be paradise!
Work tasks varied day-to-day and involved anything from gardening to constructing a goat play pen. Instructions were always clear and concise. Jennifer is a farming and permiculture encyclopaedia and was always happy to share her knowledge. I feel like I learnt so much during my time here.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

Jennifer and her family were incredible hosts. The tiny home accommodation we stayed in had everything including our own kitchen facilities, dining area, bed, compost toilet, wifi and was a short walk to the communal food pantry, shower and laundry facilities. The location has a lot to offer. The variety of work was very enjoyable. Jennifer gave clear instructions and explanations related to permaculture principles and allowed us to implement new skills. We loved Jennifer's sustainable approach to the farm and how she showed great respect to the land and animals.

My experience at Hedgerow was fantastic! I learned a lot of skills during my stay, once Jennifer presented the project to me that she had in mind for the farm, I just completely loved it, she puts so much effort on it and she's so organized that makes you feel part of the project! She also explains all the tasks that need to be done before one does them so that you completely know what to do. Also, Jeniffer provided me with all the things that I asked her, she is very caring and sweet and wants you to feel as comfortable as possible during your stay! I'm sure I will come back in the future! (:
