During these trying times the team at Hostel Ruthensteiner is adapting so we can stay open! At the moment we are running a co-living space inside the hostel. At the moment we're looking for another volunteer or two to help with taking care of the day to day tasks in the hostel. To be part of an international team, get to know people from all over the world and experience the everyday life of the hostel business in Vienna's oldest and best hostel!
Over the years we have become really good friends and that is one of the reasons for the good atmosphere and team work at the reception. We care for each other, have fun together and it really feels like a big family! That is how volunteers can expect to be treated :) See more about that here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVepcu_dqHM A security deposit of EUR 120 is also required in order to guarantee your place in the program. This should be paid up to a month prior to your arrival date and will be refunded at the end of your stay. The down-payment can be done via Paypal or bank wire. Thank you!
Staying at the Hostel Ruthensteiner was my first volunteering experience and I couldn't have found a better place to do it! I met so many amazing people, I practiced all the languages I speak, the team at the hostel is amazing and I got to experience the best of what Vienna has to offer :)

Beautiful hostel! The place is just amazing, the team is easy-going and chill.
Despite the current situation and restrictions, they're trying to keep the usual good vibe and ambience* I'd totally recommend it! :)
Activities and routine is being adapted to the 2020-situation, write to me for any other details

The first thing I did when I left was to thank Valentina for giving me the privilege to work there, because that's what it is, a privilege. Not only has the hostel just recently and deservedly won the award of 'Most Popular Hostel in Vienna', but it is testament to the level of organisation and care that goes in to how the hostel is being managed. From all levels of staff, there is an inclusivity and friendliness that makes working there so memorable and pleasant, and the guests can see that too. Hostel Ruthensteiner was the first stop on my travels but I didn't want to leave. I loved it all.
