House of Kona

This is a small farm in a beautiful location with plenty of learning opportunities. Kona Hawaii is one of the most expensive cities in America to visit. We offer an opportunity for travelers to be able to afford this destination and its beauty.

We have acquired this property 10 years ago and have been committed to developing it since. As we grow older we find the need for more help. We believe that we are kind and generous which we attempt to extend to everyone.

My volunteer stay in Kona has been a wonderful time. Michelle and Eric’s property is beautiful (the pictures listed doesn’t do it justice) as you’re immersed in the Hawaiian jungle. The accommodation is super nice and clean, as well as the lovely meals Michelle cooks up. The work you do is very fair but be prepared to work in the humidity/heat. I was offered rides to town which was super nice. This couple is overall super generous and lovely. Loved hearing their travel stories and overall would recommend this opportunity. Thank you again Michelle and Eric !!

Everything was an unforgettable experience and I 100% recommend it! Michelle is so kind and definitely a great host! I'm not a native English speaker, but I was grateful that she patiently explained things until I understood. Every meal and the house were amazing! The work was a bit hard but she values hard work. Good for those who enjoy being active and love nature! I enjoyed exploring the Big Island with my roommate on our weekends off. If you have any questions, feel free to ask:) Thank you for everything, Michelle & Eric!!

I had an amazing experience! The breakfast and dinners were so good. The work was hard, but very rewarding. It was a lot of weed pulling since it is an organic farm. Make sure you bring long pants to work (especially if you are weed whacking and planting pineapples). As long as you are willing to work hard and give your best effort you will be fine! Some things I definitely recommend are swimming with Manta Rays, Captain Cook Monument hike, and sunset at the End of the World! If you are unsure make sure you ask questions!

The experience was very comfortable for us, although the work is a little hard at times, it was encouraging to know that later you would have a bed and time to enjoy in Hawaii. Michelle is a woman with a strong and fair character, who always prepared delicious food for us and Erick who was always kind and attentive to us the short time he was in Hawaii. I really think it is a good experience to enjoy Hawaii! :)

I was very happy with the welcome and treatment of Michelle and Erick. The work is hard at times, but you are rewarded with everything Michelle gives you, her food is delicious and the rooms are 10/10. Also, you're close to town and you can walk. I would love to go back to Michelle's house and continue there. His house is very beautiful and with a lot of life around it. I recommend you go and have this very nice experience.
