Lost River Hostel

You're unlikely to find the same kind of mindfulness, playfulness, and conversation as Lost River anywhere else. Our bumper stickers say "Find Yourself", and it always surprises people when that's exactly what happens.

Our staff is ever changing and our extended hostel family is vast. Expect to be greeted with, "welcome home" when you arrive and "see you soon" when you leave.

When I first arrived I was expecting traditional hostel vibes (but glamping). Instead, it's more like summer camp! Since I’ve been here I’ve learned many new things including plumbing & electrical stuff. Staff bedrooms are whatever (think college dorm), but the overall place is magic! The people who come through are the real takeaway. You not only get to connect with other staff but the guests who choose this place are usually something special. If you come to Lost River, expect connection, growth (with a few growing pains), adventure, & a few new life long friends(including some guests)!

My experience at Lost River Hostel was unbelievably magical! The environment was beautiful and promoted growth. The people were kind and I formed some bonds I’ll have for a lifetime! The work only takes up a couple hours a day and while it can be hard work it’s very rewarding. Management was always helpful when I needed them and I feel like it was a well run organization. I’m so happy I got to experience all Lost River had to offer and I would recommend this experience to anyone interested!

Look, I had a very personal experience with this place that I don’t want to reflect on the magic of the land. My only reason for not wanting to stay was the owners lack of accountability and self awareness. I was put in a situation with a guest that management did not have the proper protocol to handle. I enjoyed the ppl I met and my first experience doing work trade, but the place needs work. You’re going to work more than you expect and get very little to no training/pay/care. There is very little rhyme or reason to what happens here. Like a frat house run by virtue signalers. Not the best

Such an incredible experience! Our AVERAGE routine looked like this: in the morning meetings we spoke about where our heads were at, what our hearts were feeling, and what our ambitions are for the day. From about 9:30am-12 pm we would do a hands on group project. 12-2:30ish we would have a break to ourselves and have lunch or take a dip in the lagoon. After that afternoon break we would reconvene to talk about the solo/paired tasks for the evening. Those tasks would include room turns, tours for the guests, dinner, and other projects. Then we would have a gratitude circle and dinner. LOVED IT
