Nava Indradhanush English Borading School

Nava Indradhanush English Boarding school was founded in 1995 with only 15 students. Currently, we provide education to almost 150 students between 4 and 14 years old. No matter where the kids are from or which status their parents have, everyone should have a chance of receiving good education. The school is also home for 15 children whose parents are not able to take care of them. But after everything that has already been achieved, we do not stop dreaming. We want every kid in Nepal to have a chance at a better life. This starts with a good education. If you want to experience the real side of volunteering, making a change in the children's life, trying Nepali food, staying at my family's house, exchanging cultures and more, this is the place for you!

In my school, we need volunteers all year round to support teaching different subjects (English, maths, science, arts, sports, etc., improving the teaching skills of the staff, creating new material, organizing, activities, updating our blog, building new facilities, etc. We ask volunteers to pay a small sum of 5 US dollars a day to stay here. This cost includes three meals (mostly Dal Bhat and mainly vegetarian) boiled/filtered water, cold shower and WiFi. Please note that the served food is basic, however you are able to stock up on extra items at the local stores and small local eateries a short walk from the house.

My volunteering at Nava Indradhanush school has been amazing! Robin and his family were very respectful and sweet. Robin's wife cooked delicious Nepalese meals. The children were respectful and intelligent, always excited to do things. Robin introduced us to local families, which allowed us to immerse ourselves in Nawari culture, which was amazing. He also took us to visit a few temples. Robin does his best for the children, and I think that's very important. Robin and his family find joy in the happiness of others, including children.

Children are wonderful and they have given me a masterful lesson in Life. My stay here has changed my life for the better. The good work of Robin, Suresh and family dignifies and makes Worldpacker great.

That was a great experience. I'm a full time teacher so I already had knowledge of how to teach before arriving, which allowed me to engage productively with the kids of the school even if the teaching methods are very different from what I'm used to in my own country.
At home, I lived with the entire family following their own schedule and habits which was very interesting from a cultural point of view.
Applying to this program, you can expect a real Nepali adventure which can be very interesting, despite giving up some comodities that we are used to in Europe. But this is part of the trip!

Our experience was incredible. Robin made us feel like home and his wife just cooked the best Nepalese food that we could have, it was delicious. He brought us for some temples and to visit local people.
The work that he does with kids is so important, he makes a big impact in his community and we are so grateful to have helped a little bit.
