Nava Indradhanush English Borading School

Nava Indradhanush English Boarding school was founded in 1995 with only 15 students. Currently, we provide education to almost 150 students between 4 and 14 years old. No matter where the kids are from or which status their parents have, everyone should have a chance of receiving good education. The school is also home for 15 children whose parents are not able to take care of them.
But after everything that has already been achieved, we do not stop dreaming. We want every kid in Nepal to have a chance at a better life. This starts with a good education.
If you want to experience the real side of volunteering, making a change in the children's life, trying Nepali food, staying at my family's house, exchanging cultures and more, this is the place for you!

In my school, we need volunteers all year round to support teaching different subjects (English, maths, science, arts, sports, etc., improving the teaching skills of the staff, creating new material, organizing, activities, updating our blog, building new facilities, etc. We ask volunteers to pay a small sum of 5 US dollars a day to stay here. This cost includes three meals (mostly Dal Bhat and mainly vegetarian) boiled/filtered water, cold shower and WiFi. Please note that the served food is basic, however you are able to stock up on extra items at the local stores and small local eateries a short walk from the house.

The experience was incredible. I learned a lot from the children and from Rabin and his family. The tasks involved entertaining the children during the holidays and teaching computing. The activities went from 9:00 to 13:00 and we ate breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is no need to bring bed linen or pillows, but you do need to bring your towel. Any help is welcome when volunteering and the children are wonderful and super dedicated to learning. Rabin is a sweetheart who does everything for the good of children.

It was an awsome experience. Rabin and his wife are fantastic human beings. The kids are so sweet and happy that it is impossible not being attached to them. It broke my heart having to say goodbye. It was my first time as a volunteer and I was so lucky and I learned so much with the experience.

Teaching english and italian at this school and living together with the kids and Rabin’s family has been an enriching and unforgettable experience. The enthusiasm and eagerness to learn displayed by the students were truly inspiring, making every day a different adventure where you have a real feeling of contributing to their development. The warmth and the hospitality of the students and Rabin made me always feel welcomed and embraced as a real member of the community. From sharing delicious meals to playing togethe, this experience constantly immerses you in the importance of this project.

My experience at Nava Indradhanush school as been really great! Rabin and his family are amazing people and the project they committed to is praiseworthy. They were extremely nice and welcoming. Staying and the school gives the opportunity of experiencing real local life.
The kids are amazing too, respectful, full of energy and always happy. I really loved teaching to them and I also learned many things from this experience.

My sister and I did 4 weeks of volunteer work at the school. We were allowed to shape the English lessons ourselves, with room for creative input. We were well taken care of and became part of the family. We really enjoyed this experience.
