OEH Osaka English House

Great location: between Osaka and Kyoto [you can go sightseeing in both places]. Perfect starting point for your new journey in Japan. Most of our former resident who wanted to stay longer in Japan eventually found jobs while staying with us.

Our business is over 50 years old and have a reputation to keep. Thus, we would like to have folks who can set a good example to our residents. [In other words, no immature people] If you are punctual, respectful, diligent, and approachable, we will do our best to keep you happy.

I had an amazing time at Osaka English House! The location in Hirakata City gave me the opportunity to really immerse in the local culture. I attended local festivals and met so many international travelers. The language exchange was top tier and I was able to have English conversation with some very cool Japanese people who are setting themselves up for success in their careers while utilizing their opportunities to see the world. I plan to return to OEH as a volunteer in the near future because I believe in their mission and values. This is definitely a great Worldpackers assignment!

Our time volunteering at Osaka English House through WorldPackers was incredibly rewarding. We worked the agreed-upon hours, helping with conversational English and keeping the shared spaces clean. The environment was welcoming, and the host was always supportive, making sure we felt at home. The co-living setup encouraged cultural exchange and meaningful connections with both residents and employees. Overall, it’s an amazing opportunity to immerse yourself in Japanese culture while making a real difference in students’ language learning.

My sister and I are very grateful for the kindness and understanding shown to us by OEH staff and the overall atmosphere was very friendly and laidback. Cleaning tasks took about an hour to complete between the both of us. The conversations in English with the school’s students were scheduled with care so that they were agreeable for us as well as for the students. This let us have plenty of spare time to invest in exploring the Kansai area.

My experience at OEH was incredible! From the start, the host and the staff were really nice, they explained everything to us and work was as agreed and shown on worldpackers: 3 hours of work a day, in our case, 1 hour of cleaning and 2 of blog writing (which could be done whenever, as long as you sent something back!). You could use the rest of the day doing what you wanted. The place itself was comfortable and the people in there were really respectful. I loved my volunteering experience and if I could do it again, I would!

It was a really nice experience. When I stayed there , there wasn’t many students so it was not much cleaning to do which was nice because I had a lot of freetime to look around the Kansai area. In comparison to other positions you are more by yourself because you will probably be the only volunteer but there are always people on the school to talk to :) Hirakata is also a cute city lots of parks and close to nature it was fun to look around. I would recommend to stay here if you want to travel to Osaka, kyoto or Nara which are very close :)
