Pawa Nursery

🌿 Volunteer at Pawa Nursery 🌿

Come and be part of a small nature-based nursery in Southern Thailand, where children learn through play, kindness, language, faith, and connection with the natural world.

At Pawa Nursery, we believe childhood should be joyful, meaningful, and close to nature. Our children spend their days exploring outdoors, playing with mud, climbing trees, gardening, listening to stories, learning English naturally, and growing up in a warm Islamic environment filled with love and respect.

We welcome volunteers who:
• Enjoy being around young children
• Are kind, patient, and open-minded
• Appreciate simple living and nature
• Would like to experience local culture and community life
• Can communicate in basic English with children

As a volunteer, you may help with:
🌱 Playing and interacting with children
📚 Reading books and speaking English
🎨 Arts, crafts, and creative activities
🌿 Outdoor play and gardening
🏡 Daily nursery activities

This is not a commercial school or a luxury project — it is a small community nursery built with sincerity and heart. We hope volunteers come not only to travel, but also to genuinely connect, contribute, and learn together with us.

In return, you will experience:
✨ A peaceful local lifestyle
✨ Meaningful relationships with children and families
✨ Nature-based education in practice
✨ Southern Thai Muslim culture and hospitality
✨ Simple living surrounded by greenery and rice fields

If you are looking for a meaningful volunteer experience filled with nature, laughter, simplicity, and human connection, we would be happy to welcome you to Pawa Nursery.

“Guided by Faith, Nurtured by Language, Inspired by Nature.”

My name is Ansari. I used to be a government officer but I found my job unchallenging, so I quit. Then I started my nursery school where I accept only ten kids and there are two baby sitters and a cook.

I also organize after-school English classes for the kids in my community to join if they are interested in. So the volunteers can also join the classes if they want to.

We are open-minded and friendly people. We love to meet volunteers and make friend with people from all around the world. We respect their culture and opinion and would be happy if they want to share them with us.

As villagers, we are always kind to one another and of course to our volunteers. We are always willing to help when never it is needed. So we would try our best to help our volunteers with anything they want, just to make sure that they will have a good time staying here with us. We are all human beings and are deserved to be treated nicely.

This was such a beautiful and meaningful experience. Everyone was incredibly kind and helpful, always welcoming me with a smile and making sure I was comfortable and doing well throughout my stay. The children were so friendly, curious and always eager to learn and play together. It was a pleasure to spend time with them every day. This is a wonderful experience for anyone looking to immerse themselves in the local culture and peaceful surroundings of rural southern Thailand. I'm very grateful for the memories and connections I have made during my time there.

A experiência foi muito boa! Ansari e Maria são pessoas incríveis, me trataram muito bem e me ajudaram com tudo que precisei. A escola possui um espaço muito bom e é um ambiente muito agradável para se conviver e trabalhar.

I left this volunteering experience early because it was very different from the Worldpackers description. The accommodation was dirty, smelled bad, had insects, rats, cold showers, and broken facilities. The workload was much heavier than the advertised 18 hours/week. Communication and support from the host were poor, and volunteers often felt controlled even outside work hours. The children were amazing and the only reason I stayed two weeks, but overall I would not recommend this placement due to the living conditions, lack of transparency, and treatment of volunteers.

We are disapointed to read this review, as it does not reflect our experience hosting Margot. The accommodation and volunteer role were clearly described before her arrival. We provided meals, accommodation, and support throughout her stay. We were especially surprised because she chose to leave one week earlier than agreed due to another volunteer placement. While we respect her right to share her opinion, we do not believe this review provides a balanced representation of our project.

This was my first volunteering experience, and I'm truly grateful for everything. At first, I thought it would be difficult, but the children made it so special and unforgettable. They were full of warmth and energy, and being with them taught me so much about enjoying life. They did their best to make me feel comfortable. The photos are a bit outdated and could better reflect the improvements. It was okay for me but meals aren't included on non-working days, which could be clearer. Leaving the kids was harder than I expected. I also filmed with permission, you can check my YouTube: @saydeklog
